Mid Season Bump Up or Something

I'm new to USTA leagues, and I have a question. I've played two singles matches in my 4.0 league so far:
6-0, 6-1 against a 4.0 player who was 2-4 last year in 4.0 play, and
6-0, 6-0 against a 3.5 player who was 4-1 last year in 3.5 play.
Both players were very bad for my league. Are these scores going to give me strikes or anything? Could I get bumped up during the season if I'm a self rated 4.0? Like I said, I'm new, and any info would be appreciated.

Unfortunately as a self-rate you are eligible to get DQ'd during the season if you have too many "strikes" against you. That first match you played might be a strike or it might not, depending on the guy's DNTRP. But that second match won't count against you since 0 & 0 scores aren't used in DNTRP calculations.

I want to say to try not to worry about it too much, but that would be a little hypocritical of me since I had to self rate this year and I'm worried about being DQ'd too. However, if you get a mid-season bump-up that's fine since in that case you can still finish your league season.

Cool. If I get dq'd, it's ok. It's funny that the bagels don't count for anything. I understand bagels on a 3.5, but it wouldn't count if I bageled a 4.0? This whole computer rating thing is weird. I'm just going to beat the brains out of everyone I play, and if I get bumped up, I will just find a weak 4.5 team to be on.

Don't know all the inner workings of GNTRP, but that double bagel to a 4.0 C guy is definitely a strike. The other double bagel to 3.5 guy may or may not be a strike. A 3.5 is expected to win at least couple of games against a 4.0.

I think this question came up today. Kostas seems to have learned that a double bagel will not affect the rating of a computer-rated player. But a double bagel will generate a strike.

I think the first result is definitely a strike.

The second is probably a strike, as you played a strong 3.5.

Good luck with that!!

how many more of this ego-driven threads need to be started. Just play the f'n game and let the chips fall where they may. If you get DQ'ed obviously you played the wrong level end of story. Please no more self-ego driven stories of will I get DQ'ed.
Pretty Please?!?!?!?

I promise it's not an ego thing. I know there are other good 4.0's that can beat me. I've played in a 4.0 group for three years that is not USTA, and am new to USTA leagues. I was not anticipating the lopsided scores, and don't really want to get bumped up either. I know that I would lose almost every match at 4.5. And no, I'm not going to lose any games on purpose. All I'm saying is, I think the system sucks.

Put the beatdown on a player last week that was undefeated in 4.0 in 2009: 6-3, 6-1. I'm not worried about the bump up anymore, however, because I popped my calf muscle hitting the very next day. Looks like my season is over unless I recover by state and my team makes it that far.
