Mixed Doubles Final: Black/Paes vs Huber/Murray

I just watched the mixed doubles final on my DVR. Jamie Murray could not return the serve of Cara Black. It was unbelieveable. He would either overhit long, trying to kill the ball, or hit into the net, or misjudge the kick and sail it, or hit it right to Leander Paes at the net, even when Paes was signaling his poach way too early or playing the I formation.

Cara Black should have been broken all three times she served in the first set (in which case she only would have served twice and the set would have been 6-2, not 7-6).

I am a big fan of doubles and mized doubles and really wish they got more TV coverage. However, this match was such low quality tennis that it would be hard to make the case for showing more mixed doubles. Men's doubles, yes.

If Huber had been paired with Mike Bryan, she would have a US Open title today. Jamie Murray was an embarrassment. This match was an announcement to the world that the mixed doubles title is won by default, because the really good players don't want it on their schedule. Yet, the Bryans have both entered mixed doubles at majors recently, just not this time. Too bad.

Just kidding. I did have to giggle that no one had posted in this thread.

What is Jamie Murray good at exactly, what are his weaknesses? I'd be really interested to know.

In mixed doubles, men should only be allowed one serve when serving to female players. It would improve the quality of play.
