I cracked up at the article only mentioning Dzumhur for ATP players who will wear it. If there were rankings for showing up in YT videos for unhinged tirades and whining, he'd be a top 5 player for sure. Hopefully Sonego or someone who does more than crashout at Challengers every other week will move to it full time.

I like it in person but everyone likes different things. The medial side and tongue logos are an iridescent color that shifts between blue & green depending on the light and looks pretty cool. I need a bit of color bc I hate how dingy all white shoes look after awhile. I'm sure a second color will be launched close to when the shoe comes out (had heard there was a mostly blue one).
 
I love Mizuno-probably the highest craftsmanship of any sporting goods company. I've worn their running shoes for 30+ years. Love their indoor court offerings. Even had a pair of the Lendl Mizunos in college. To quote another poster from many years ago-"the soles had the durability of warm butter". :) Their shoes are top tier in performance but style and color combos are ugly as sin, IMHO. I'll probably still purchase them. :)

to be honest, I haven't tried any other New Balance shoes after the OG Lavs. I lived in Asia where New Balance has no interest in importing their tennis shoes to. It is too expensive to get a pair from TW and ship it to Asia. The Lavs v2 also has mixed reviews which further deprive any of my motivation to get a pair even when it is discounted

Wow so you really took a chance with the original LAVs then!

BTW the 996v3 came before the LAVs. When the LAVv1 came out it supplanted the 996v3 as their flagship stability shoe and in turn, the next 996v4 became a speed shoe (much to my dismay). The original 996v3 was like the LAVv1 but with a much even heel to toe drop. One of the larger complaints that 996v3 users had when their shoe got replaced was that the heel on the LAVv1s were too high off the ground.
 
Was considering the Exceed Tour 7 wherever I wear out my two pairs of Stycons...still am, but now adding this to the mix, depending on real life reviews.

Maybe by then either will be on closeout pricing

yeah, I have to clarify that the OG Lav is the only tennis shoe from New Balance which I have ever tried. But if any of their recent models get good reviews, I am more than happy to come back and try, despite the logistics costs
 
It's a very solid performing shoe. To me, it correlates closely to Asics, landing somewhere between the Speed and Court FF series. It's not as overbuilt as it might appear at first. It plays very quick on foot while still providing a stable base. The upper does require a bit of break in but it is by no means uncomfortable out of the box. The heel height is slightly elevated but isn't overly extreme and there's a good balance of cushion and court feel. The Enerzy XP midsole has some really nice bounce to it. I think the outsole will be more durable than the Enforce Tour given what looks to be improved tread depth. My one issue is that I felt the outsole skewed a little more slippery than I expected and I've lost my footing a couple times. I had similar experiences in past Asics and the sole profile on these feels very similar. Maybe it will improve as the sole wears in a bit more. For me it's an average medium width with maybe a little more room in the front of the shoe than something like the AGLT23 but not as much as the Reebok Phase Evo I have. Lockdown is good, especially with a runner's loop but it lacks the fine tuning lockdown that the AGLT23's lacing system offers.

It increasingly sounds like Lacoste cut a lot of corners on the updated LT Ultra and as I mentioned in the Lacoste thread, I think the Neo Ace is a good alternative for someone who liked the LT23. It's fairly light and fast while providing a stable base for lateral direction changes and has a nice midsole that will likely holdup for the long haul.

What is your regular shoe?
I see you test and try alot so just curious what your benchmark is.

I do bounce around a lot, which may or may not be a good thing. Byproduct of having industry/retail contacts that are either generous or want feedback I suppose. I've probably played the most in either the AGLT23 or Diadora B.Icon in the last few years. They perform similar for me with slight tradeoffs I can live with in both directions.

I really, really liked it as a shoe- Felt responsive and bouncy while having a super nice fit without an orthotic, but my issues keep me from even walking around the house without proper footwear, much less play tennis. A slim to mid profile orthotic would probably fit though, just be cautious of making it too squishy underfoot if it's one of those gel orthotics

I'm just particular with my shoes, after going through a journey to find that right fit, shelling out $175 in hopes that it will also be as good if not better is a gamble lol.
