Mizuno Wave Enforce Tour

Got my favorite Mizuno WET shoes but this time 2.0 version.
Beautiful shoe and not much difference from 1.0 EXCEPT the 2s do not have that famous and genius heel collar :(. A bummer.
I cannot tell if they will be slipping, they are a nice fit but without that collar it just does not feel the same.
The sole, side and front padding is the same as the 1s. The front felt a little bit roomier than the version 1, however, could be this specific pair.
The heel area is nice and snug and has a little bit more padding. So, we will see how they perform (but not any time soon).
Feels and looks like the bottom cushioning and sole are identical between the 1 and 2.
Have you tested your WET 2s on court yet and have more feedback on the killed revised heel collar? (no pressure haha, I just read that you were testing the Cage 4s so got me wondering)

TWE released the mint WET2 in both AC and Clay versions, but also a new colorway of the original WET for clay, a bit weird.

Actually, TWE used the wrong picture and corrected it, it is a new colorway for WET 2 CC version:

I felt that the difference is minimal so I did not take them on the court yet and instead focused on the RS Legend and now Cage 4. Will be awhile for me

From the pictures the added ankle padding has a liner with a different color. Does that fabric have more grip?

Some have reported heel slippage as an issue in the new WET2. I am sitting on the fence until some reviews come out to confirm this. The ankle system on the WET1 was a big part of what made that shoe so special.

Coming full circle now. I’ve had the Kswiss HCS2’s and the AGLT-23 ultra both on rotation since retiring the WET’s, but I’ve seen a discounted pair of WET AC in red for an unbeatable price, and debating to pull the trigger on them. I’ll probably use an orthotic insole from new. A side of me says to wait as I wish for some sort of padding in the tongue if a new version is on the horizon, as this is the only part of the shoe I don’t enjoy and the crappy outsole durability. Have also been considering the NB CT Rally as Zach The foot doctor rated these quite highly, although mixed reviews from purchasers on the US website, where some have complained of build quality issues. The reason for an additional shoe is because after using my AGLT-23’s over the summer, my big toe is starting to feel squashed. During long matches, I can’t wait to get them off. Going up half a size was not an option. Decisions, decisions!
The Lacoste is also a great shoe, but there is just not enough forefoot cushioning. I even tried them with an insole, but it did not resolve the issue. Both the Yonex Eclision 5 and Ad Accel are more comfortable and as quick on the court. The Eclipsion 5 is more comfortable and stable than the Ad Accel but the Ad Accel is super quick and has great breathability. Both beat the Swiss by a country mile. Both nudge out the Lacoste AG LT-23 due the forefoot cushioning.

I am with you. To me the top 5 would be Mizuno WET, Yonex Ecliption 5, GR9, Lacoste LT-AG Ultra and #5
I agree with that 100% except the GR9s kill my feet. I have tried them three times since they added the "Dynawrap System" and all three times had to return them as they crushed my foot. The other four definitely the Top 4 shoes on the market + the Yonex Ad Accel.

So my Top 5 are: 1) Yonex Eclision 5; 2) Mizuno WET1 (don't know about the WET2 yet); 3) Lacoste AG LT-23; and 4) Yonex Ad Accel.

Other runner-ups? Early reports on the GR X have been mixed. Several reviewers were not keen on the fit. Foot Doctor Zach loves the Adidas SoleMatch Control 2. I tried them and thought they were "meh".

I played with the Cage 4 tonight for two hours. Really like the shoe!
I used Nike Vapor 4 (?) back in 2007 or 08, then used Cages back in 2010. Tried the Vapor 9.5 re-release but they did not work well for me due to lack of bottom cushion and my knees did not like them. I did not expect much from the Cave 4, but everyone was talking about cushioning and comfort and I definitely need that for my injured knee, so I gave it a shot.
Negatives: they do feel bulky/heavy when holding them, they do need some break in period, they are not fastest shoes, they do trap the heat in although I play indoors so that is ok.
Positives: the fit is perfect, cushioning is great, comfort is amazing, they are stable and great grip, they do not feel heavy on my feet.
I’ll give it a few more days before I decide if they take the top 5 spot on the list

Absolutely NOT. If any, it feels smoother than the fabric around. It is just bulging and supposed to press on that part of the ankle more and hold it in place.
I cannot tell if it dos the job and if it is any worse than the collar but I do miss the idea of that collar

The WET2 feel a little firmer and "less plush" when you put them on. Other than that, they seem similar less the ankle collar that others have mentioned. I have not played in them yet but am not worried as they do have an eyelet for a runners' knot if needed.

Nike Cage 4 looks a LOT like the current model. What changes did Nike make in them to elevate them from an average (bulky) shoe to consideration to the TOP 5?

Seems like Mizuno was looking to make the shoe more responsive and trying to keep maintain at least good comfort (where the WET 1 was elite in that department, but a bit sluggish side to side). Did they succeed?

They did not change in 5 years. However, I never tried them before and once I did I absolutely love them. I find them much more than the “average”. Yes, heavy, but do not feel that way and have great bounce/energy return that they feel great for me. Super comfortable — exactly what my knees need
