Mladenovic's big choke

She needs to work her mental, in the same time she was exhausted after the story with Paire.

That is a pretty big choke but i'm not really that shocked because of it being WTA. Some matches i have watched only had 2-3 service holds in the entire match so whilst the actual game she failed to serve out was definitely a choke, the scoreline that followed is typical for WTA in my view.

That was so painful to watch. Mladenovic was winning 6-1 5-1 40-0 against Gratcheva. She lost the match 1-6 7-6 6-0. She missed 4 MP.

I have seen a lot of chokes in the WTA over the years, but this one is definitely in my top-10.
To be fair the match points came at 5-2 *0-40 on Gracheva's serve

She's French....
Explanation enough.

That said, Serena Williams blew a third set 5-1 (& 4 match points) against Pliskova at the AO in 2019 so she's in good company.

She played poker with covid positive Paire and was then put in special isolation.
Was not allowed to practice with anybody. :(
Was freaking out in the bubble.

That was a strange match... if i recall correctly, Serena thought she had served an ace on MP and started celebrating, but it was called as a let (or something along those lines) and play resumed... shortly thereafter Serena slightly rolled her ankle and tightened up immensely.

Slightly different circumstances to today's match... but I get your point

Now THAT is what I call a choke and a half and then some!

I only saw the tie-breaker, and how she was totally losing it. She was hitting balls at her opponent, who was standing in the middle of the baseline, while running off the court, allowing her opponent to hit easily into the open court.

So was Paire actually positive or was it a false positive, therefore he was actually negative? I read an article where Mladenovic says she's had "30 negative tests" and that Paire tested positive but "ultimately negative".

Watched. She serves 2 ace and 1 nonreturnable serve until the MP. Rolled ankle and then DF or two with the serve is on reach the half the height of the net. We don't see many choke from Ms. Williams I guess, so need to savor it?

Anyway even with that. This take the cake. She getting bagelled with no injury whatsoever. Luckily she scored a game to up 6-5, otherwise losing 11 games in a row might even more embarrassing than her losing streak in 2018.

That was brutal.....Shapo was almost as brutal loosing his lst set tiebreaker, wildly spraying balls all over the place squandering 4/5 set points. He got it together to close out the match in three straight sets after than.

I guess with all the matches she played in her. life, that there was not a complete strategy developed for finishing off matches! Is Thiem still together? If so, this event will put pressure on the relationship!

This has to be match fixing or she really needs to see a psychologist.

Nah you can rule out the match fixing immediately.

Even if both players had pre-arranged her tanking, it would have been
far too dangerous to wait until match point to reverse course.
Either player could have mishit a ball (Mlad hitting it for a winner or Grach
hitting it for an error.)
