It's that time of year again, a few razor thin races in the standings still need to conclude, but we are mere days away now.

With the Rangers elimination we are guaranteed a new champion this year.

Who you got and why is it Helmet's / @MeatTornado 's Yankees?

The Tigers are playing great. Sellers at the deadline but showing that if done right the return can pay dividends immediately if planned based on need.

A bunch of young kids who have no idea what they are doing and just playing ball and winning night after night.

I am not sure they will be able to hold on as the Marlins have pitched well since the all star break and Chicago while awful has been known to blow up teams hopes at the last minute.

Dodger pitching especially from the bullpen will likely let them down again. Annual occurrence for decades except for one magical run during the pandemic. Eager to see what Oooohtani does in the playoffs though.

I am a simple man when it comes to the MLB playoffs. Whoever the Phillies are playing, I root for them (y)

I am that way with the Yankees. Back in the 70s there was a book published called the "The Yankee Haters Book".

It was nothing but a line by line list of stats and facts about the Yankees.

Stuff like (I am making this one up but just for example). Who set the record for the highest payroll with the worst season record? "The such and such Yankees"

This type of thing.

It was a great book. I need to find it!

I think the dodgers will win it and Ohtani will be GOATed. I was about to buy a bunch of Ohtani sports cards right before his first big season. Turns out I am not meant to be rich.

I don’t see Yankees winning it. They’ll lose to the Astros if they meet.

One can only hope!!!!

The Yankees always have an over inflated perspective of how they are going to do. Luckily they usually disappoint their fans.

I stopped caring. Even as a Red Sox fan I wouldn’t mind if the Yankees won. I like Judge, he could be GOAT

I don't mind Boston and between the two I much prefer Boston overall as far as town to visit. Have had several great visits.

We took our son when he was little to a game at Fenway and sat 5 seats diagonally from Pesky's pole the day he passed with the all Red Sox fans going to the pole to take their pictures next to it. We also did the tour. My only disappointment was that they said on the tour that the only part of the ballpark that is original is along the section between home and third base. I am not sure if I am recalling that correctly.

We also took him to Wrigley when he was little which was just an amazing experience. We rode the L and the doors pop open and it just oozes baseball and history. The smell of popcorn, beer, hot dogs. We sat 3rd row behind home plate and I counted the 12 steps the ball boy made from the dugout to home plate to give the umpire new balls. It is that intimate a ballpark.

We are going to have to visit both again soon!

Yeah man must have been a great experience for all of you. I’ve only been to Fenway, my dad took me when I was in 6th grade. We sat all the way in right field cuz the tickets were free. I’ve also went a couple times with my friend. We were actually talking about watching a game at yankee stadium.

I witnessed this from the upper deck in right field of Old Tiger Stadium that overhung the field of play. The whole deck was actually shaking a foot up and down. I thought the whole bleacher was coming down. Of course my video is much older than yours as I was 21 at the time ^^^ ;)

Guards bullpen game tonight...four pitchers, perfect game through six...and no, a combined perfect game has never happened in MLB

it's over...Reds hitter lays down a bunt to ruin it...boos rain down, though it's only a 2-0 game

as Fleetwood Mac once said, Oh Well

That division has had such a glow up this year. Guardians Tigers and Royals have been very fun to watch this year.

God bless

I bet 2k on the Eagles in the SB to try to make them lose. And did the Kral reverse jinx pretending I was rooting for the Eagles just to win the bet. When in reality I never wanted to lose 2k more.

I have never once in my life rooted for a sports team from Philadelphia, and if I ever said I did, I was doing some kind of Kralingenian jinx attempt as a last resort. I even rooted for Brady against the Eagles.

There's nobody I wouldn't root for against Philadelphia.

I ROOTED FOR THE DANG ASTROS MAN.

this division has never had another year like this...most always the worst division in baseball or next to worst...no argument that often benefitted my Guards, especially with the old really unbalanced schedule but it is nice in a way to not seeing it as the weak child of the league...the Twins collapse has been something though...and if anyone wants to read the brutal story of the White Sox season click on this ESPN link

Ohtani and Judge still both have a slim chance of achieving the triple crown in their respective leagues. They both have unsurmountable leads in homeruns and RBIs but are trailing one person in hitting average.

Ohtani has batted 0.590 in the last 10 games

AL:
0.332 Bobby Witt Jr.
0.325 Aaron Judge

NL:
0.314 Luis Arraez
0.309 Shohei "The Money" Ohtani

Arraez is at 0.314 and sitting out at least one of his final two games. It will be almost impossible for Ohtani to surpass him.

Ohtani has gone 2 for 5 so far this game and his average is up to 0.310. No triple crown this year.

Judge went 0-5, dropping his average to 0.322 with only 1 game left and 0.010 behind Witt Jr., so it his chances are over for a triple crown this year.

How much did Ohtani bet on himself winning the MVP this year?

Big doubleheader today. Can the Mets get in or will they Mets it? @T1000 watching with bated breath
If you told me in May we would be in contention for a playoff spot on the last day of the season I would’ve called you crazy. But here we are. That game was way too stressful lol

I also love how Manfred expanded the playoffs to 7 teams to avoid game 163 and it ends up back firing lmao. Tied with Silver for current worst commissioner in sports.
