MLB Playoffs 2024

We could find 3 out of 4 AL teams left being from the AL Central. The Yankees are tough but we have seen them cave under the pressure before especially if they drop a game early at home and their fans turn on them.

Detroit wins on a 3 run homerun.

Anyone know what percentage of RBI's are from homeruns? I tried googling it, but couldn't find the answer. I'm assuming a pretty high percentage. IMO, "dinger ball" is as boring as NBA "chucker ball".

Skubal is special. Wow

Wow, what a game. Both teams are playing great and the Cleveland crowd was amazing.

As far as Skubal he is really on fire. It will be interesting to see if he is riding a wave or if he can continue to pitch like that in the future.

I know one thing. Commerica park will be absolutely nuts come Wednesday.

October baseball is a blast. Go Tigers!

f me

three f'in sliders in a row which he doesn't locate well much of the time but gets away with it because hitters have to be prepared for a 100 mph buzzsaw...get beat with your best for chrissake

Yeah I saw the commentators say that. I doubt he throws back-to-back sliders in that situation again.

That dude who pitched before him is completely nuts. I mean impossible to hit.

He looks like some sort of cyborg as he walks off the mound. Completely emotionless.

Smith, yeah he's been a revelation even to them...wasn't even supposed to make the team out of spring training

My gosh that guy is a stud. Are you in town or just a fan?

I was born and spent my early youth there. What an awesome town!

Royals could easily be up 2-0. Funny how Judge and Witt have been nonexistent in the series so far. Hoping Bobby finds that regular season swing these next couple of games

PHILLIES ARE OUT!!!!!!!!!!

Cleveland hadn't won an elimination game since the '97 World Series I believe....that pinch-hit homer by Fry is one of the most clutch hits in team history...now they have to do it again, against the best starter in the league

p.s. they've been using that safety squeeze play successfully all year, just surprised they had Fry do it after just hitting a homer when all they needed was a fly ball
:o

Boy another great playoff game. Congrats to the Guardians and the fans in Cleveland!

Why did the Tigers pitch to Ramirez?? All of us at the bar last night were "don't pitch to him" .... "don't pitch him"... "No!!!!"

Fry has killed the Tigers in the past.

Big game in Cleveland tomorrow.

btw, they just moved the game to 1:00 tomorrow because of impending rain...although the forecast didn't show it...at any rate, better for me because I don't like to stress all day...and most Guards fans are Ohio State football fans too and they play Oregon tomorrow night...so no channel switching

I am a buckeye fan too so now we can watch them play Oregon.

I know it is a strange mix.... Browns, Tigers, Buckeyes but it is who I am!

Dodgers win the series, 2-0 final...just six hits combined in the game but two of the Dodgers were home runs....and the Padres go the last 24 innings without scoring
What a great game. Great pitching under elimination stress by starting pitchers and bullpens. Just a couple of timely hits by Mr October and Teoscar made the difference. The Dodger bullpen looked so dominant in the last two games. Hope Ohtani catches fire in the NLCS and the starting staff gets the game to the bullpen in the sixth inning consistently.

After decades complaining about the Dodger bullpen letting them down in the playoffs (along with a few Kershaw stinkers), it seems strange to be more worried about the starters than the bullpen this year.

very little talk about the three pick-ups the Guardians did this season....Boyd, Cobb, and Thomas have all paid off...Thomas, after a brutal first month

Some day, I will learn more about American Fútbol in order to opine in this thread.
At this point, my comments would be mostly worthless.

33 scoreless innings in a row for Dodger pitching...11 different pitchers contributing...thought they were supposed to have bad pitching

I shouldn't let it bother me, and I'm better at it, but watching Sports Center this morning and they had Buster Olney on...he summarized the Dodgers win and then the host switches to AL and asks him what the Yanks have to do to win...says Rodon has to be calmer on the mound and Judge has to start hitting...next question obviously is what the Guards have to do to win, right?...nope, end of questions for Buster but the anchor finishes by pointing out that Judge hit very well against the Guards this year
:)

My favorite ever is 2006 when the Tigers played the Yankees in the Playoffs.

"Mike & Mike's lock of the Week" = Yankees Sweep of the Tigers

Actual result = Tigers lose first game at NY and then win the remainder to eliminate the Yanks.

New York Media
