MLB Playoffs 2024

This explains everything. Yep, Dodgers might be Finnish
It is just ridiculous at this point. Sports suck.

I am sticking with the Dodgers. I need a team as my son is about to start t-ball. I wanted to get him a team he can root for and not be cursed like me.

Happy to be wrong about the sweep. Game 7 ratings would be crazy. Even Aaron Judge finally hitting now that Lleyton is a Dodgers fan. I am so sorry, other TTW Dodgers fans. Lleyton might have just cooked y'all.

Yankees turned into Keystone Kops - but they were the worst baserunning team in the regular season and the third worst defensive team. So not a surprise that even after they started hitting and had Gerrit Cole flamethrowing, they found a way to lose. The fundamentals or lack thereof will ‘get’ you in the end whether it is baseball or tennis. The Dodgers with all their high-priced talent also were a fundamentally sound team and it earned them the title - patient at the plate, pitchers who threw strikes, sound baserunning and very few errors on defense.

Celebrating with some Japanese whiskey in support of Yamamoto and Ohtani - the Dodgers spent a billion and bought a WS. Only the 2nd title for the team in my 32 years of being a fan and so I don’t care how much they spent on their payroll. It took a lot of toughness to get over all their injuries this year - Viva, los Dodgers! If they are healthy next year and Ohtani pitches in addition to his MVP-level hitting, the league had better beware.

Tonight it seems appropriate to post a tribute to the greatest Dodger and greatest broadcaster of all time - Vin Scully. Glad to see the Dodgers win one more for Vin!

Damn, after seeing @Federer and Del Potro’s horrific attempt at a season thread, no wonder this shi*t sucked so bad.

There is zero MLB knowledge on this site.

Why are you complaining when you didn't contribute to either thread? It is not my job to tag you in stuff. We lost a lot of members that were baseball fans. Blame the powers to be. The playoff thread was fine and participated in, not many casuals care about a Yankees-Dodgers WS though.

Baseball is simply not as popular as it used to be -- especially on TTW. Not like the NHL, NFL, College Basketball etc. threads are ever any better. This is a tennis website and barely anyone cares about this section.

FWIW you also couldn't be more wrong. Plenty of baseball knowledge on this site. Most just don't care enough to come here to talk about it. @weakera @Steve0904 @MeatTornado all know baseball. @T1000 knows baseball but doesn't really come around anymore. @RaulRamirez knows baseball.

Me tagging people that barely login is pointless because the alerts disappear after a while anyway.

All I can do is create the thread and hope people contribute. This forum is half dead. Feel free to make the next threads if you feel you can do better.

The rest don't talk about baseball in Odds & Ends. So you wouldn't know if they do or not. I assure you they do, though. There are group chats and they all know their stuff.

Last years playoff thread was not any better. Again, we have lost members . I am not going to spam bump a thread to keep it alive though. People will either talk about it or not. The baseball fans we have keep it to the group chats or are banned/MIA.

Okay. Listen, if you want the threads to be better, it would behoove you to tag the posters that know the sport. If you want the threads to be 4 guys posting memes, by all means, have at it.

The 2023 playoffs were talked about in the 2022 season thread. Which was a whopping 3 pages. We simply don't have the users to do it. Tagging people only works if they frequently log-in. Alerts disappear after a while (not sure how long - but when I login after extended periods I do not have all of them).

I did tag @T1000 earlier this year and to my surprise he saw my tag. There's maybe like 3 or 4 other people I could have tagged, max, to maybe make this thread 5 pages instead of 4.

Also, please name one relevant MLB fan that is banned from here.

@Kralingen

And not banned but @stringertom carried baseball threads for years . He felt like keeping them up to date/bumped. I do not feel the need to keep threads bumped for half a dozen people.

stringer was an absolutely awful poster, him leaving made the entire site better.

Either way, this season is over. If you need a place to really talk MLB, shoot me a message next year.

Go Stars.

Thanks. I love baseball -- it's arguably still my favorite sport -- with tennis, hoops and [American] football close behind.
I guess that I spend so much time here already on GPPD along with one group chat, that I quite rarely go outside of those bubbles.
Even though there's still a little tennis remaining, the NFL is approaching the midway point, and the NHL and the NBA are underway, I always mourn the end of the baseball season.

Tigers!!!! Easy to Like. Great Logo and uniform!

Get your son a hat or reach out and I will ship him one!

I think @Federer and Del Potro did a great job with the MLB Playoff Thread this year. As a newbie as my Tigers finally made it I had a great time following along.

Thank you @Federer and Del Potro for setting this up.

Appreciate it my friend. Like I said I think interest waned once it was Yankees-Dodgers. I know mine did . A lot of neutrals just don't really care about the matchup because they dislike both teams. If it was more competitive interest would have risen on my part.

Though it's good to see it garnered strong ratings. So clearly some neutrals were interested. Just maybe not TTW's.

As a Dodger fan, I mostly follow the National League teams in the regular season. In the World Series, I generally support the NL team against the AL team if the Dodgers are not in it. I’ll even support rival NL West division teams like the Giants rather than support any AL team in the WS. Are there other fans like that with allegiance to the NL or AL?

That's a good question. I honestly kind of just go by players I like on certain teams and root accordingly. I'm an Athletics fan so being a fan of a glorified farm team, I see a lot of our talent go to contenders. Funnily enough, I think the current squad have quite a few players that could beef up playoff teams. Rooker, Langeliers, and Miller among the top.

I don't hate the Dodgers or Yankees, I just didn't have much preference. I wouldn't have minded see Cole finally win one, but it was not to be. Good to see Ohtani on a real team though.
