Model D Restoration

I have an old Model D that I bought as a kid 2nd hand back in 1983.. I used it at the time to string my Prince Pros and later Prince Graphites. It's been sitting in my garage for many years and occasionally strings a POG when I would play. I recently started hitting more balls and pulled the Model D out and installed the upgrade kit I got from David four or five years ago. New glide bars and extended feet on both sides from David. Over the years I've had a few sets of clamps from Tennis Machines and these NEOS clamps are good.

Unbeknownst to me a friend took the machine apart and did a nice sanding and paint job on it. Good to go now

Awesome post! I love the Ektelon machines and still use mine today. I had my crank arm cut and added 5 inches so I could accommodate all racquet sizes. These things will last forever!!

Thanks for the comments. I think my buddy used some Rustoleum exterior paint and similar color primer. He did it without me knowing so I had nothing to do with that.

I finally calibrated the tension head after 38 years of owning the machine. Hard to get it exact with the cap screw/bolt. I think at 50 lbs I get a reading of like ~52 lbs on the digital scale

If I had a dollar for every time the wife tried to get rid of this thing....I could probably retire

I have a Model D that a friend of mine gave me this past summer and I love it. I was using a drop weight before and this is so much better. I've cleaned it up and have everything working great. I think it's unbreakable!!
