Modern Day Prince Triple Threat Warrior Midplus?

After hating every one of the demos I received on Thursday (VCore Tour 97, YT Graphene Instinct MP, Bio F3.0 Tour, Ki Q5 295), I took out my old Prince Triple Threat Warrior Midplus racquet, that I had strung up a couple weeks ago, out to play some 4.0 doubles.

Overall I played very well with this racquet with the highlights being my ability to hit some amazing slice shots, hitting some shocking crosscourt backhand angles, kicking my serve well, and some solid volleys at the net.

The three areas that weren't so impressive were the whipability on the forehand side (my weaker wing), the power level (slightly underpowered), and the pain that my serving shoulder* is now experiencing. *I serve lefty but play righty

Is there any racquet out there today that plays extremely similar to the Triple Threat Warrior Midplus but might be easier on the arm and have a bit better maneuverability?

The strung specs of my racquet are: 313 grams and 4.5 points headlight; strung with Solinco Tour Bite 1.20mm mains at 48 pounds and Volkl Synthetic Gut crosses at 51 (yea, I know that the Tour Bite may be part of the pain problem but I just have so much confidence with this string)

No problem...you may have to add a tiny bit of lead @3&9 just for stability

I've demoed the X Force & the PK Q Tour 295. I played with & still own a TT Warrior mid & OS. The upside with these racquets in comparison to the TT warrior is that they due swing easier IMO because of their lower swing weights. So you'll lose some inherent power if you play them stock. The good news you can add lead, adjust your string set up or up your racquet head speed to compensate if you miss the power of the Warrior. It would be hard for me to choose between the two without more demoing. I would lean to the PK Q Tour 295 as I like the thinner beam. Two other suggestions would be the Boris Becker DC London & the Mantis Pro 295. Both are 98 sq in heads low-medium power with lower swing weights than the TT Warrior mid. Good luck

Sounds great...do you happen to know the specs, the release date, or if it will have the 'open' grommets?

From what I remember the Response came in a little more than a half an ounce heavier than the Warrior...can anyone verify or correct this?

From what I understand the new Response will be part of the "Classic" series with standard grommets, as opposed to the "O" ports.
 
Wasn't the Response a 18x20 pattern? That and 0.5oz heavier, makes it nothing like the TT Warrior...

The TT Warrior was based on the Response.

The mold is essentially the same. I believe they changed the "recipe," but the weight is still listed at 320 grams.
 
TripleB - having followed your comments for years, I recommend that you wait for the new Prince POGs this fall. I know you won't be able to resist a demo! :)

BTW...what was your original username - the one before TripleB?
 
Triple-B, I can offer some experience.

I previously used to play with a heavily leaded Pure Storm (not Ltd), and I switched to the Prince TT Warrior EXACTLY bcos of the opposite of your reasons!

I loved the Pure Storm but it was too overpowered for me. The TT Warrior came in in terms of feel - I have a feeling that the similar string patterns are a reason.

If you have a chance, perhaps try the Pure Storm?

I'm pretty sure I'm through with the POGs....saw the info on the new ones and I don't think they are what I'm looking for in my racquets these days. I want to go ahead and decide on one and start enjoying just being on the court.

To be honest I don't remember...I've been going by TripleB so long now :)

Just ordered my last set of demos for a long time. If I don't find a new racquet in this group of demos then I'm going to find a softer string set up for the Prince Triple Threat Warrior Midplus and after that I will just appreciate the fact that I'm back on a tennis court playing the game my doc told me I should never play again.

I went with the Pro Kennex Ki QTour 295, the Pacific XFeel Tour, and the Pacific XForce. As a wild card, and from the recommendation of Andy at T-W, I threw in the new Babolat AeroPro Drive.

I appreciate all your help, recommendations, and opinions.

meh stick with the Warrior, I like mine on soft multi

only thing annoying with my aged set of 3 is the matte clearcoat has gone tacky

haven't found anything newer that plays exactly same, have tried.
Closest would be my other favourite LM Radical MP which feels a tad
more agile at expense of TT stability. Can't say jelly bridge does much.
I switch mainly between these 2 depending on the mood on days
when I haven't got enough energy/concentration to swing a Prestige/POG.

Yea...may end up doing that. If I do I'm going to stick with my poly/syn hybrid but may go to Tour Bite Soft instead or Tour Bite....or I may just try a softer synthetic than Gosen Super 16L. Only thing is, now my 4 1/2" grip feels a bit large with my Supreme Overgrip.

I may still be playing with my LM Rad MP if it had 16 mains. Just can't find the spin I'm wanting when I find out a racquet has 18 mains :)

My coaches warrior did this as well. Kinda a turnoff...btw I may go back to this racket. Solid spin, power, and precision. Also is heavy enough to block back pace.

You wanna get on the love boat for triple threat prince sticks? Man, I got some love appreciation for the Bandit mp of all sticks. It's actually really fun to hit with and it's really under appreciated. I feel like there's a lot of good sticks that aren't modeled as "player's" sticks, but they do a damn well job at making someone a capable opponent. People who have all these different demoing habits of trying a ton of sticks should try the sticks that don't get too much attention.

Yeah TT Warrior matte clearcoat has gone tacky, same with everything
else from that fad 10-15yrs ago. I've cleaned off the clearcoat from
Wilsons & TT Bandit with isopropyl alcohol but somehow the
Warriors have a thicker paint that I haven't broken thru yet.

My 3 are from 2 different batches, 2 look earlier with the see thru window
into the 10-2 metal braiding. Later 3rd stick has the photo of the braiding
and having lived in case always has not yellowed as much as the exposed 2.

I added a EXO3 Black but it ain't as solid as TT Warrior, just feels different.

Love the specs of bothe the Warrior 100 ESP and the Tour 100T ESP.

Not sure about the Tour 100T but I see the Warrior has the open grommet system...not particularly fond of the open grommets...feel seems just a bit too disconnected for me. I was hoping with the re-release of some classics that they would go back to the old grommets but no such luck.

Yeah, TT series had lots of good frames. My wife plays with TT Turbo Shark, graet frame. Apparently it was made as Prince's version of Pure Drive, with slightly softer flex. To me it plays like O3 White with more "raw" feel, without O ports.
Another TT gem is the Scream. Looks a bit crappy on specs, but as it is light static and SW, it's great platform to customize to whatever you want. Very easy to play with.

It is possible to string them with grommet inserts, for more direct feel. However the ports are the best part of these frames, IMO. That's where extra comfort, power and spin come from.

I like the whistling sound of the ports! :D That's why I use the O3 that whistles even more then EXO3 ;)
