Oh and I definitely want to put my idea of modifying the scoring for R16 to vote.
I need my voice be heard damn it.

Doubles is definitely fun. It's a keeper.

We have some time time to debate 'til Rome.

However, to me the whole thing now, is about who is the most lucky in the first two days + stays consistently decent for the rest of the tourney. And that is not what it should be about, imo. A bit of tweaking won't do no harm.

And what does the Kiwi part mean? Are you from New-Zealand?

I still think the winner of the 3rd/4th place playoff should get more points, otherwise it doesn't make sense...

@LCY: What was your idea about the R16 points system? I think you brought it up during my 'vacation'.

Special scoring for that round only. 4 points for the correct winner, 6 for the correct score.
 
I have been thinking of certain ways to amend that. We have in the past suggested doing womens games (I think I was for that) but it was voted against by the majority. I do not think we should change the point system given the justification Seff gave you before.

There are certain things we could do however. Perhaps a "Power Pick" where somehow (betting odds maybe) we pick a close way that could go either way and it is worth double. Perhaps for every round after the first round. Like for this tournament we could of done these as power picks:

R16: Tsonga-Ferrero (Or Berdych-Verdasco)
QF: Not really one but perhaps Ferrer-Kohl?
SF: Djokovic-Verdasco
F: No pick.

I think we need to think of alternatives to changing how points are tallied as I doubt and don't think it should change. There is an element of luck to picking 1st round games however I think I am an example that it is not pure luck. Look at my results on clay vs hard court. HUGE difference. So I think that is proof that it is not pure luck. Of course it does make the rest of the tournament boring if you are at the bottom and we have the H2H for that. I do think we still need to make improvements to make the end tournament more exciting however I think we are heading in the right direction as of now.

Yes! That was the easy part :)

I better clear up what I meant before about the 3rd/4th playoff. I meant we give it points and keep it or don't give it points and dump it. I never had any intention of keeping it and not awarding points. Also I am thinking the points for 3rd will be 360+90 or +45 and for 4th 360-90 or -45 for the masters. Just deciding what is better. Maybe the + or - 45.
 
I'm insisting on R16 because it's the most important one tournament-wise.

All players, including seeds have already played a game, so you know what you're working with. Plus, some of the match-ups are very tight. Ex: Berdych - Verdasco.

I think that is more important, tennis-wise than guessing if Stephane Robert that has never played on a show court will get straight-setted by a journeyman or not.

Sure, maybe my proposition is not the best, but I really think the scoring should be modified a little, adjusted accordingly to tennis knowledge, not pure luck. Just my two cents.

360+90 for third place sounds reasonable, I think we should keep it.

Btw, shall we team up in Roma again and win it this time? :) Urbs aeterna mihi valde faveat!
 
TM can you start the Rome thread soon so we can get as many participants as possible. This is helpful for the H2H. It will also help us discuss future improvements.

Yup. To be quite honest, I don't want further discussions on the points system for the general league, it isn't changing and we've discussed why to death.
