More 2022 clay wins - Nadal or Djokovic?

Djokovic will be returning to tennis at Monte Carlo. His clay participation will be based on how many tournaments he can enter. Madrid seems to be open to Djokovic playing if he can get into Spain (given current policies, it looks promising), and Rome/Italy has had conflicting information.

Nadal will be skipping Monte Carlo, is iffy for Barcelona and Madrid, but should be back in time for Rome or RG. However, there are big error bars on that - he might make all the tournaments except MC, or he might skip them all except RG.

I expect Djokovic to play more matches but be less prepared. His match play this year is lacking and he may need some time to warm back up. Nadal is likely to play fewer matches but be ready for each (assuming the rib doesn't cause even more problems), especially with his natural talent on clay.

Who wins more matches?

I'm guessing Nadal plays Madrid and RG, winning about 11 matches out of a possible 13.
Djokovic probably plays all 3 masters and RG, losing early in 1, making a couple decent runs, and one win. So maybe 15-17 wins? If he skips a masters, though, this will probably get very close.

My bet's on Novak right now, but it's mostly dependent on his form, as I'm sure Rafa will still be a beast on clay when he returns.

Should be Djokovic but I do believe Nadal will be back and firing for Madrid+Rome+RG. Possibly even Barcelona. Seems like 4-6 weeks is overly pessimistic given how Rafa always seems to recover quicker than expected.

lol wut? Nadal at best will play one tune up event if at all before RG. RG might not even happen either.

And why does it matter who wins more matches during the clay season? lol

It doesn't matter. Neither does us talking about tennis. It's just a question.

I think he definitely could play all 3 of those, but I think Rafa would be more cautious after this injury and skip Rome (to get another week of rest before RG just in case).

Meh. After reading a bit more on the subject, I think he plays Barcelona and this is all much ado about nothing. How many times have we thought Rafa was done only for him to comeback much sooner and healthier than expected?

It should be Djokovic unless he is very subpar, which is a possibility.

i made a thread about fritz faking his injury and it got deleted. what did that matter? it was true. lol.
Listen, if you don't like the question, go somewhere else. All I'm asking is how many tournaments do you think each plays and how well they do. If that's not your style, make another thread you like more.

Rafa always keeps us guessing it's crazy lol. Can't wait till he comes back in an epic kit and makes us go crazy again

There are many sensitive Nadal fans these days, they get easily triggered by harmless questions they don’t like and react like pit bulls on steroids. Not sure why.

Who cares, what matters is who wins RG even if it’s 7-0 Vs 20-1

Here’s hoping it’s Djokovic. God is good.

You think the net cord on 40-15 was a divine intervention?
