More control

Hello, I play with IG Prestige MP and I want more control, which suggest?

I thought these:

Prince Tour 95
Prince Tour Pro 98
Babolat Pure Control Tour
Dunlop F3.0T
Head Graphene Prestige MP

What are the current rackets that provide more control?

Thanks

Of the bunch you have mentioned I think the Prince Tour 95 has the most control and is actually based on the Prestige MP, so easy transition for you.

What are the current rackets that provide more control?

Virtually none.

The Prince 95 is slightly lower powered, but not much.

Try a little lead tape at 3 & 9 o'clock. It will stabilize the racquet and smooth out your strokes leading to enhanced control.

Are you using fresh Polyester strings?

Other than that I can only suggest going to the Prestige Mid - more control at a big sacrifice to spin and power.

I can't imagine that the problem is with the amount of control that a Prestige MP has, it is one of the best control frames I've used. The problem is either with the strings, or much more likely technique.

If the problem is the racquet twisting on off centre hits, then the problem is stability, not control. This is fixed by using a heavier racquet, either by adding lead to the racquet or buying a heavier racquet. The 6.1 95 18x20 is more stable with slightly control, but it is much harder to swing.

I was a longtime prestige player (still my favorite racket of all time) but after a long demo process I bought two of the new pro staff 95. best control frame i have played in a long time. great feel. my last prestige was a ig mp which i liked after playing the microgel mp which i did not like. I demoed the graphene prestige pro and liked it better than many have but like the pro staff 95 much better. I haven't played with a wilson since the pro staff 85 for a few years in the '90's. then played mostly prestige's with a prince graphite in there for a while. (prestige 600/pro tour 280 are still probably my favorite frames of all time but I like to change rackets every few years. not sure why...)

hope this helps,
Josh

Prestige MP is one of the most control oriented racquets you'll find. In fact, I can't think of any retail frames within the last couple of years that would be a more control oriented racquet than the IG MP.

I suggest keeping the frame and increasing your tension. You won't find more control with anything else.

Thanks Guys!

Of course, the technique is the biggest problem;)

I'm using SPPP 52lbs, how many hours of training should change?

The Prince Tour 95 is very flexible, could give more control, but the SW is greater than the Prestige, which would be the end result?

I thought if I put lead in the head would be more powerful to increase the sw ...

Thanks again.

What kind of "control issue are you experiencing, because -as mentioned above- you won't find much more control orientated frames out there, without losing a lot of power.

As mentioned you could think about going to the Mid or maybe even Wilson 90, but you are seriously losing power and spin with those rackets.

Maybe you could -for instance- try going to multifiber string instead of poly?

"More control" can be a function of the PLAYER, might have nothing to do with rackets.
Look at YOUR racket. Now look at the pros using similar rackets. Is your racket the problem, or is YOUR lack of control the problem?

As other posters already stated the IG Prestige MP is one the best control frames. So I would recommend you to keep playing with this one. However it really comes to live when you increase the swingweight by adding weight into the tip at 12 and or at 3 and 9.

I added 10 grams of lead from 10-2 o'clock position and counterbalanced with a leather grip and 7 grams of putty (blue tack). My IG Prestige MP is 360 grams strung and the balance is 6,5 pts HL.
Oh yes, I wouldn't string that high as the string pattern is pretty dense and then it'll become boardy. I prefer a tension of 51(m)/49(c) lbs.

Your tension is a tad low if you're going for control. I'd bump that up to 55 lbs.

Like others the prestige MP is top tier when it comes to control.

I too added lead to my prestige mp
-Lead at 10 and 2
-Leather grip
-Blue tack in the handle

What gauge string are you using? I think your tension is HIGH for an 18x20 low powered frame. Maybe the tension is too high and you are swinging outside of your comfort level to gain more power. This in return may affect your control.

Can you help describe what you want in terms of control?
Are balls flying long?
Can you not redirect the ball's direction?

I would still say if you are having control issues it might be player issue. But i'd play with lead and strings before you switch frames.
