I know who would be the best judge of that.

Which streak do you prefer @vive le beau jeu ! ? :)

Both were EPIC. Why do we need to pick only one ?

Indeed, much more impressive than FO 2015 as well :p

oh no argument from me there... it didn't lead to a title for Novak anyway. I'm concerned more about the impressiveness (or lack thereof) of slam title runs. Let's you and I for a brief second consider Wimbledon 2017 for example. :p

Both are different. 2011 came right in the middle of Nadal's absolute peak, and it came from no where, NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY could have predicted what was about to happen after 2010 came to an end. The second streak is impressive in its own right, because he did not lose a single set - 15 sets played 15 sets won, against your greatest rival. That is unheard of, and the fact he pulled off a second streak of 7 wins, doing it once was special, but doing it twice????

Yes, same reason why Wimbledon 2006 and 2007 were more impressive slam wins than AO 2017 ;)
Neither of the three were really impressive. 2006 and 2007 was pre prime nadal against peak Federer on Federer’s best and Nadals worst surface and nevertheless Nadal almost won in 2007. Thinking about it, 2017 was way more impressive since both were post prime on a more or less neutral surface.

These kind of threads are the empirical proof that TTW is full of Nadal haters.

I get where your coming from but all fan bases post this kind of crap. It’s a circle. Now some nadal fan will post some crap and say it was because of this kind of behaviour and then a fed fan will see that and do the same becauae of nadal fans behaviour etc. This is clearly a troll thread. Lol the poll question was funny though. Funny trolling is actually entertaining. That aside if it was a serious non offensive question it actually would be a decent question and interesting to compare the two periods and analyse the rivalry. But lol this is TTW.

Yeah, vicious cycle. They all get thrown under the bus.

In 2011 there was no shame for Nadal. He played like a superhuman, but simply came up against an even more powerful superhuman. In 2015 Nadal clearly played bad for his standards. Djokovic didn't even need to play his best to beat the tired injured Nadal.
So despite being a Djokovic fan I did cringe a lot at the way he cakewalked over Nadal so many times in 2015. 2011 was the greatest thing I've ever seen in tennis.

I see what you did there op? You know what's truly epic though? The way Nadal came back stronger each time and won more slams, no?

FYI Nadal was not injured 2015. But nice try

absolutely rubbish to call 2007 Wimbledon as pre-prime Nadal on grass. wim 07 final was arguably his best performance on grass (along with wim 08 final)
oh and grass was nadal's 2nd best surface at that time, not his worst.

Just goes to show your ignorance/bias. (oh and you didn't respond to the full stats of the US Open performances by Roddick , Hewitt, DJokovic, Agassi etc. I compiled , after asking for them)

nadal's peak level on grass was (IMO) better than on slow HC or fast HC.

oh and 2006 has to be part of prime nadal on grass, though not peak. since he got to the final on an unbroken streak of 80 as opposed to losing before QF from 2012-17

There is no "epic" streak when most of them aren't slams. Where was Djokovic the 9 times out of 13 he was beaten in slams when it mattered? That's true epicness... that's true greatness. Looking foward to Rafa's other career pigeon getting put back in his cage tomorrow too.

Well I have a job as well and don’t have the time to hang around 24/7 in some Internet forum but don’t worry I will respond to the stats this weekend. As for the rest of your post. Nadals peak on grass was 2008-2011, maybe you can throw in 2007 as the beginning of his prime, but 2006 is absolutely NOT prime, completely delusional. It was something like Nadals 6th grass tournament in his life.

He was struggling physically that much was clear. I love Djokovic but come on it's delusional to say that Nadal was at the same level as he was 2011 or as he is now.
Nowhere did I said its was the same level of playing , just corrected "injury" part as Nadal was compeltely healthy during 2015

so a peak of only 3 years on grass ? 2008, 10 and 11 as per you ? (since he didn't play in 2009).

Nadal would pick you up and thrash you if you suggested he played anywhere near as well in the 2011 final as he did in the 2007 final btw. :D

yeah, so what if it was Nadal's 6th tournament in his life ? he still played pretty well. (he was on a 80+ holding streak going into the final. Only Sampras had had longer ones at Wimbledon).

Quite a few players -- Borg, Becker, Edberg etc. had not played that many grass court tourneys before making their first final on grass.

given his performances at Wimbledon from 2012-17 , it most certainly makes sense to include 2006 as part of his grass court prime (though definitely not peak).

And like I said, grass was his 2nd best surface at that time. To call it his worst surface to put down federer's wins is just plain dishonest and reeks of agenda.

..............

oh and regarding the stats and time, I call bullsh*t on that.
You were the one so eager for the stats. Its been 12 days since I posted them. So again lame.

You'd think he was but sadly he's mostly just a very consistent bridesmaid in slams. Even Baghdatis could play two decent sets in a slam final - Murray managed just the one in the FO final :D

There are definitely some fallacies with this comparison. I wonder if you can work out what they are? :)

I'll take both 7-0's :)

First one cemented Djokovic as a top tier player
Second one was just too good but less important title wise
Hoping Djoker goes on another 7-0 next year :D

2011. Nadal was still playing very good tennis. Very impressive that Novak was able to hand him those defeats. Very very impressive string of victories.

2015-2016 Nadal was losing to anyone playing top 20-30 level tennis. Same as how Djokovic was from end of 2016 to 2017. Nadal beat him easily at Madrid. Would have handed him more defeats if Novak had met him more often or didn't shut his season after Wimbledon. It wouldn't have been as fun or impressive as in 2012-2014 though. Djokovic clearly not at his best.

For the next level of winning streaks against Nadal:
Davydenko has 4 at 09 Shanghai, 09 WTF, 10 Doha, 11 Doha.
Federer is tied at 4 at 15 Basel, 17 AO, IW, Miami.
Can Fed extend his streak to 5?
