Some line judge isn't going to treat one of our own like garbage without hearing it from the crowd.

The biggest stage in tennis. 24,000+ stood with Serena, as they should. I stand with them.

It made me proud to be an American tennis fan.

Really!!?? To take away beautiful moment from Osaka?? Serena like always couldn’t just let it go and play but tried to prove she is better than anyone! Stats say it all take a look at it!!!

I was too rattled by everything that happened in a matter of minutes to completely digest if the Umpire's calls were in any way flawed but for the crowd to have booed Osaka was disgusting.

Naomi won that event by overpowering Serena and by keeping her cool when the entire event erupted in chaos. I wanted Serena to win but if I had been there I would have been on my feet cheering for Osaka at the end. She's one of the future greats of the WTA.

Probably They booed for not watching a great match which could happen.
The first set was very excited then Serena just fell a part with her emotion.

In fairness, as Naomi went to do the post-match ESPN interview the crowd chanted "Naomi! Naomi!" and yelled "We love you, Naomi!"

Oh so good to hear, thank you. I had turned off the TV long before that.
Yes, tho it's certainly a shame Naomi was collateral damage during the trophy ceremony. That line judge owes Naomi an apology for making the match about him.

There was coaching, there was a racquet smash, there was insulting of an umpire.

She got the treatment she deserved. And the crowd got the result they deserved as well - their player losing the final.
If Morataglou moving his hands side-to-side is coaching then there needs to be a whole helluva lot more penalties called. Don't single out Serena and embarrass her on a world stage.

There have been many times when men have unleashed prolonged profanity-laced tirades and umpires just turn the other way. Once again, we need universality. Don't single out one black woman to make it all about you, Carlos Ramos.

Serena embarrassed herself. Race had nothing to do with it either.

One of our own? Proud to be an American tennis fan? This is a bizarre comment to say the least. If you're a fan of tennis, you're a fan of tennis... the nationality of the player shouldn't matter. A true tennis fan enjoys good tennis and sportsmanship.

Serena has had enough favourtism with seedings so let's not talk about her being victimised just because she's a black woman, I don't see this stuff happening every year with Venus or Sloane stephens or any other woman if it's just about being a woman. she's also had enough angry tantrums directed at the umpire when she's losing and she went over the line today, should have just accepted the warning for coaching. She then proceded to break a racquet and get another warning which meant the loss of a point on HER OPPONENT'S serve.. probably didn't effect anything but still had to go off on one again and call the umpire a liar and a thief... sorry, you start saying things like that and you deserve what you get. It's also hilarious her coach admitted he was coaching her so it's been proved that the umpire is not a liar and actually made the correct call. Should other players be called too? Yes but Serena's reaction cased the loss of a game and a meltdown and totally robbed Osaka of her moment. Utterly disgraceful by Serena AGAIN. But It wouldn't be a USO final if Serena didn't do something like this. She needs some serious anger management, obviously being a mother has not calmed her down one bit.

Her coach admitted he was coaching her, so Serena should take it up with him instead of having a meltdown at the umpire, but in her world she's always right and no one can beat her.

OP is dripping with sarcasm. C'mon anyone who feels this was a serious post.

I thought Ramos was a joke, but regardless, I didn't get the feeling that the crowd was booing Naomi, but whoever that lady was who came on stage to talk about the tournament. Crowds always root for older, fading legends. Krickstein and Chang have seen that against Connors and JMac at the Open. One day there will be another generation cheering for an aging Naomi as she holds on for dear life against another upstart trying to take her place.

Mouratoglou admitted the coaching himself so there is that. She would have avoided the game loss after her outburst at the umpire and name calling if it wasn't for that coaching and the racquet smash earlier.

Don't blame it on Serena's race or gender because she couldn't control herself... Again.

The worst fans in the world are Philadelphia fans.
Random and funny.

The worst fans are going to be the OLE’ crowd tomorrow. After a while it really starts to grate. And it gets manufactured by the USO which sends cameras into the upper sections of the crowd which whips it up more. At least half the effort is completely contrived for the cameras but no less annoying for being “inauthentic.”

Real Americans do not agree with her behavior

Then again real Americans are not in New York and do not practice the religion of identity politics

You should join the grease-stained, obese hordes at your local baseball venue essentially looking for an excuse to day drink.
Don't criticize baseball to an American.

And 90% of us drink during the day whether we're at the ballpark or not. It's 100% in Australia right?

Is this a serious post? How booing Osaka is proof that US Open have the best tennis fans.It is proof that the crowd there is one of the worst, not the best.

I agree with the OP that this is a vastly overrated tournament. Stadiums that are too big and the noisy crowds always eating or drinking something.

The head of USTA saying "It wasnt' the result we all wanted" was typical American classless s..t and so many American flags at the ceremony was the typical eyesore.
