I love Carlos, but can we wait until he makes a deep run in the slams ? I really do think he’ll surpass all 3. Seems very evident on paper.
But too early to predict until we see real results in slams.

He's reached the USO quarters. That's a deep run.

I agree it's too early. Alcaraz just won Miami before the age of 19, but his NextGen resume still pales in comparison to 2017 Zverev, who produced great results across all surfaces:

19 year old Zverev took Nadal to 5 sets at the AO;
20 year old Zverev beat Djokovic in the final of Rome;
20 year old Zverev lost in the final of Halle to Federer, and in five to 2016 WB finalist Raonic;
20 year old Zverev beat Federer in the final of Canada.

Chris Evert has said that Alcaraz is going to achieve double figures in GS titles and TTWW has mentioned that the three of them, at most, are going to achieve five Major titles.
The answer is clear, obviously.
:cool:

It's quite worrying that this has happened to all of the three most prominent players of the nextgen on the biggest stages of the biggest tournaments. what it tells us

It's just as worrying that such high profile chokes happened so early in their careers. Will this be a pattern? Fed didn't choke a 2 set lead in a slam until he was 29. Nadal as well. I don't think its ever happened to Djokovic.

Another fun bit of trivia - all 3 have lost to Nadal while being match point up.

Anything can happen. We were projecting Tstsi/Med/Zverev to be the new dominant players 1-2 years ago and now they can't win anything. Could be someone totally unrelated to the Little 3 and WTAServereaz
Medvedev was one set away from winning last two slams!
Tsitsipas was a set away from FO
Zverev was a few points away from USO two years ago.

Both game and mentality wise he already looks better than the little three - no significantly weaker wing and no major weakness beyond perhaps serve consistency and lots of grit.

What to Medvedev, Zverev and Tsitsipas all have in common? They've all lost slam finals from 2 sets to 0 up. It's not a very high bar to clear.
Somehow, I had managed to forget about this pretty important detail... It really makes you go :cry::notworthy::sick:o_O
At least Medvedev has one slam. Should give him enough confidence to believe in himself to win a couple more slams. The other 2, not as high hopes.
Which makes it even worse.
It does, doesn't it? It sure does.

Theoretically, I still pencil an offensive-minded AZ without the yipes, going for his groundies and serves, as a multiple slam winner. But let's see him 1) actually play like that in a slam and 2) beat a top-10 first, not everyone gets to win a slam without facing a top-25 player.

At 25 Alcarazs opposition will not include Nadal Djokovic Federer . So his way to multislam winner will be easier

It’s all about age and timing. The new kid arriving at 2022/2023 might have come on stream just at the right time and age. Both him and Medvedev will lead the way it seems, while the other two guys might find it a little harder to keep up. Could be wrong, but let’s see.

No.

But if he dominates the Next Gen, that already will make him better than them.

And besides, these younger guys never really had Federer.

Alcaraz is 18 lol. In 2 years he will be world no.1 with a few slams under his belt.
