It's just as worrying that such high profile chokes happened so early in their careers. Will this be a pattern? Fed didn't choke a 2 set lead in a slam until he was 29. Nadal as well. I don't think its ever happened to Djokovic.

Another fun bit of trivia - all 3 have lost to Nadal while being match point up.

Djokovic lost from two sets up at 2010 RG to Melzer. He was in a serious mental funk at the time, in the midst of martin-inspired doublefaultery. Getting out of that and jumping to miraculous heights in less than a year was a pretty outstanding effort.

Federer and Djokovic becoming as good as they turned out was indeed pretty miraculous.

Federer went from a headcase to a very solid player mentally and Djokovic became a stamina beast after retiring in several slams.

Perhaps. But I was basically saying the same thing about Zverev in 2017.
Zverev was bettwr in 2017. I dont know if off field distractions have made him regress but that 2nd serve and FH just are so vulberable and i donr remember that being the caee in 2017.
If he sortes those 2 shots out he would be no.1 very soon. Indo wonder about coaching standards.
