Four nominees:
1) Excessive grunting 4.5-- Good player, but elite with the sound effects. Even on lofted neutral balls from the baseline, there are sound effects. Loudly blames the court "THIS CLAY SUCKS!!" when his footwork is suspect and he doesn't get to a ball. Also smashed a racquet in a box league doubles match XD
2)Overzealous bunt artist-- She's maybe a 3.5, has the ugliest strokes in America, and tries to alleviate the pain of this by defending all the courts with an iron fist, interrogating kids over whether or not they paid for or reserved them. My favorite moment was when, mid lesson with a teaching pro, she flagged down a manager walking by to whine about kids jumping on courts and not paying. She wasted a full 25 minutes of her lesson, despite assurance by the manager that she should continue her lesson and he would be in his office to talk afterwards.
3) "My match is important" lady-- This one was my favorite, and the only time I've ever blown up on somebody on an adjacent court. I was hitting with my dad, a 3.5, and he hit one into the doubles alley that I could run down, so I did so, and pushed the side divider curtain a bit with my racquet so I didn't step on it (My body never actually touched the curtain, so I guess I was being overly careful, but my coach tells stories of people that have been injured by the thing.) So princess on the adjacent court misses a shot, and says "Can you not do that, we're playing a match, you're distracting me" I was a little perplexed, and put my left hand and a racquet up in a shrug, asking what she wanted me to do. She replied with "I'm a league player, this is important" At this point, racquet pointing and "You aren't a tenth of the player you think you are, I'll be damned if I let a whiny old woman tell me how I should practice..."(you get the idea, it was a solid 15 second reaction) She double faulted the next point and I beckoned "that's on me too, right?" I joked with a front desk worker about the whole thing and he said that her group whined about somebody doing something to distract them every week, yet had loud conversations for 10 minutes on changeovers.
4) "The Gorilla" Weak to standard 4.0 that thinks he's a 4.5, plays a "Power game" (aka balls hit the curtain on the RISE) He also has a heck of a temper, screaming profanities next to ladies clinics, smashing racquets, One time he broke a cooler, that was entertaining. Also constantly blows up social media with things about his tennis career.
