@Third Serve. Some people say times by 2 but that seems too much. It is likely just under that. I saw something similar with a-comparison on Wiki with the points of the top players in 2008 and 2009 and they multiplied by 2 to adjust the 2008 points to the new 2009 system.

I believe the current system is more top-heavy than the one it replaced. The winner of a slam, for example, gets double the points (2,000 vs. 1,000), but a finalist gets proportionally less (1200 vs. 700). Smaller tournaments did not all change the same either. The ATP site, for example, has Roddick winning 225 ranking points when he won Queens in 2003. Yet it only became worth 250 when the system first changed. So a simple doubling would definitely not accurately compare the two, though even going through and adding up all the points would still be questionable since the distribution of points throughout the tour was so different then. It’s apples to oranges to some degree.
