Most Boring Players To Watch...

TheTruth

G.O.A.T.
Some players I have to watch the scores on because their games are too boring to watch. Here's some of mine below, who are yours?

Women:

1. Ana Ivanovic-bores me to death with her celebrating every single point that she wins (not just the great ones). She's a horrible mover and a boring personality to boot. She does play smart tennis sometimes, but with a total lack of flair. It's just hitting the ball back and forth, nothing special. Ugggh! Had to stop watching it. Was giving me a headache.

2. Kuzzy-isn't far behind. Plays like Clijsters, all that talent but doesn't seem to know how to use it. Why isn't she making the slow Ana move? Not using her head. Why isn't she playing aggressive on the big points? See reason above. Lot of talent, doesn't play smart enough.

Men:

1. Roddick-too predictable. Big serve, forehand to the opposite court. Yawn. Almost every point, unless he's running in on a bad approach. Personality is a bit bland to me too. Tries too hard to be witty, and witty is natural, not forced.

The others will come to me.

Nadal - I find his style of extreme topspin and grinding pretty boring. I find his strokes ugly to which doesn't help.

Sharapova - Boring one dimensional baseline basher. The same could be said for quite a few women.

Actually, Sharapova has been executing a lot more variety such as drop shots, slices and lobs. She defeated Henin using these finesse shots in addition to power. Even in her match with Kuznetsova, the other day, the commentators were stating how the technique was so good on her volleys and slices. They also talked about Kuznetsova displaying the same skills and freatured slow motion replay of a nice slice BH war between the two.

Watching 2 serve and volleyers play each other is the most painful and boring experiences ever. Sampras vs Rafter 2000 Wimbledon Final is one of the most boring matches ever.

Those two are quite boring, not so much because of their serves, but because of a lack of movement or ground game.

That's true, I don't think they ever played against each other, but I am yawning thinking about it.

I just hate a match were most of the points are won on service winners/aces, those two players fit the bill.

I love serve and volley. Can't stand all the baseliners in the game right now. Shortening points just make sense to me. Hitting the ball 20+ times does not!

Any two baseline bashers, can't agree on S & V's - loved the 2000 Sampras Rafter match. Different strokes for different folks.

Players like paradorn schrichaphan or someone like Boris becker is fun to look at because they bring something unique.

Davydenko, Hewitt, Ferrer, sometimes Nalbandian although I do enjoy watching him sometimes. I love s&v tennis. It beats watching two 5'8 repetitive baseline players grind it out for 4 hours, playing clay court tennis on hardcourts.

The clay is sexy. You have to outsmart your opponent. Each person has more time to get to the ball, so you have to play a cat and mouse game. The clay is special. Get with the program, ya'll!

You're insane!!!:)

When Dementieva is on, she is one of the best players to watch out there. I just hate watching her serve. :(

thats why she turns the whole thing off for me. I just see her serve and i think fat chick like my avatar running for a ball. Only if they show the groundstrokes first b4 the serve ill be ok. her groundstrokes especially her forehand is scrumptious but her serve is like a rigid rock

Canas is the worst... You're always in for a 10 hr match with this guy. He's soooo boring.

Davydenko, Chela, Dent ('cause all he does was serve and volley...) and Ferrer are also boring. Too 1 demensional.

Any serve and volley player has always bored me.

you're kidding me. those are the most fun to watch. You don't like watching john mcenroe play singles or patrick rafter?

I say the boring players are players like Davydenko, Hewitt, Vaidisova, Sharapova, "Ball Machine" players

Ljubicic..seems like he has no personality

I don't mind watching Defensive Baseliners go at it all day
as long as there is long rallies with heaps of scrambling
however that said I don't like watching Davydenko

Santoro and Stepanek I think are the best players to watch because they play clever points

What's boring to me is watching 2 big servers play against each other??

Karlovic vs Isner..etc.

Amen my friend....I was really getting worried for awhile...was afraid that tennis was becoming a big bang first serve and nothing else. One dimensional players put me to sleep...Andy RodDICK

Clay is for people that can't hit the ball hard enough to end the point. Tennis should be won by hitting winners, not unforced errors (losers).

Everyone has their own taste...me? I love to watch clay....I had the pleasure (?) of seeinglast years semi at the Legg Mason...John Isner vs Gael Monfils....yawnnnnnnnnnn.....Unfortunately, I took a good friend along and it was her first live tennis match! Yeah, it pretty much sucked...plus it was 200 degrees outside..it always is at the Legg Mason.

I hate the "grip it and rip it" style of James Blake. Bores me to death. Plus, he always walks around like he's got a pole jammed up his butt.

Carlos Moya he is boring as a sponge cake. His old and kina outa funk he lost his edge. The whole ATP dont bring raw emotion that the women bring to the game that makes the game interesting and also because of some of their fine booties

I've hardly been able to watch her since she won Wimbledon due to her awful grunting. Amazing how she has gotten so much variety now.

The most boring players to watch are good players making tons of unforced errors. Nothing makes you feel ripped off more than that.

:D

Agree a 100%. About the only redeeming quality to his game is his movement.

Federer - Plays horrible tennis for a #1 :)

I know you are joking, but Fed really is a boring character on court. Not charismatic at all. If he was top 20/30 I'd probably not even follow any of his activity.

But all that said he is the best shot maker ever, so that makes up for his on court dullness.

Most WTA matches suck. Too few rallies (2 S&V players) and too many rallies (clay-court grinders on both sides) that rely on unforced errors rather than winners, make a match boring.

The ideal match to me has the following characteristics-
- Players exhibit contrasting styles
- Winners to unforced errors ratio is good for both players
- All-round skills are on display: opportunistic net play, a couple of well-timed lobs or drop-shots, defensive winners, a few aces on crucial points.
- The match need not be close. One player playing out of his/her mind, with the other playing ok, is great as well.
- No gamesmanship, trainer breaks, or foul play
- No RAIN DELAYS! That's my biggest Wimbledon peeve.

I don't find any atp player boring to watch, I can appreciate their excellent footwork and foot speed while they attempt to win points with w/e technique they use be it for the baseline or net. If they're on t.v. they must be doing something good.

agreed

Hewitt unlike most grinders can actually volley very well and has a decent serve
Love it when he gets pumped (he was so exciting to watch AO 05)

and yes you are right about sharapova

Speaking of Hewitt, whom I enjoy watching, someone made mention the other day about everyone on both tours using his "c'mons." How about everyone using his lawnmower thingy too! Shows how watched he is!

Maybe the fact he has a problem with his spine or lower back or whatever the serious issue is he has had since a child has something to do with it?
