i concur, but i just watched ivanovic at the pacific life open live, and she never bored me to death watching her. Lots of winners.

the whole wta is boring now that Martina Hingis left. Actually I would throw Justine Henin in the fun to watch group as well though (and although she's very ugly I think Francesca Schiavone on clay is fun to watch), but jankovic, sharapova, ivanovic, vaidisova, et al are boring.

Speaking of Hewitt, whom I enjoy watching, someone made mention the other day about everyone on both tours using his "c'mons." How about everyone using his lawnmower thingy too! Shows how watched he is!

speaking of hewitt, how does he do his lawnmower thingy? what is it? is that when he does his hand thingy( like a duck sorta thing? )

Maria looks great some days and others its like "hmm ewww?" she ranges from like a solid 8 to a 5

no clay is for people who are smarter and can maintain a rally for more than 10 shots

Exactly, I love watching clay court matches because you can study the some of the strokes and point construction. Personally, I don't like playing on it, but would watch a clay court match anyday.

I know you are joking, but Fed really is a boring character on court. Not charismatic at all. If he was top 20/30 I'd probably not even follow any of his activity.

But all that said he is the best shot maker ever, so that makes up for his on court dullness.
I would never have dared initiate a post like yours because everybody seems to be in awe of him but I kind of agree with you. Sampras was also a guy whom everybody praised and for good reasons but the guy made me yawn, I generally fell asleep before the end of the match

We're talking tennis here bro.

BTW, your boy Hewitt bores me to tears.

Hewitt's actually quite fun to watch against big hitters becasue of the way he can counterpunch their shots and really frustrate them. He might be an a** but his fighting spirit is really admirable.

Berdych and Ljubicic. No personality/uniqueness. Boorrrinngggggg...

I find Roddick and Davydenko semi-exciting because they hit w/ power. Davydenko's strokes and footwork are very solid.

After watching Ferrer Vs Monfils I am adding Monfils to my list of most boring players. He just pitches his tent 20feet behind the baseline and almost never takes a ball on the rise and just relies 100% on his quickness till the other player gets frustrated and loses the match.

maybe the hewitt of 5 years ago, the 2008 may be the absolute most boring player because he completely sucks and trys to be agressive and dictate play, be he does not have the pace to do so, and hes neither quick nor consistent anymore so all we see is a slow small player trying to dictate play without the power to do so....basically a whole mess of errors

i do not think monfils is boring because his retrival power in and of itself is stunning and exciting and every once and then he breaks out a rocket shot which is exciting too because it is unexpected, idk how that is boring

He has an interesting strategy. I kind of like it really. Disrupting the rhythm of your opponent is one of the keys to winning a match.

Some players I have to watch the scores on because their games are too boring to watch. Here's some of mine below, who are yours?

Women:

1. Ana Ivanovic-bores me to death with her celebrating every single point that she wins (not just the great ones). She's a horrible mover and a boring personality to boot. She does play smart tennis sometimes, but with a total lack of flair. It's just hitting the ball back and forth, nothing special. Ugggh! Had to stop watching it. Was giving me a headache.

2. Kuzzy-isn't far behind. Plays like Clijsters, all that talent but doesn't seem to know how to use it. Why isn't she making the slow Ana move? Not using her head. Why isn't she playing aggressive on the big points? See reason above. Lot of talent, doesn't play smart enough.

Men:

1. Roddick-too predictable. Big serve, forehand to the opposite court. Yawn. Almost every point, unless he's running in on a bad approach. Personality is a bit bland to me too. Tries too hard to be witty, and witty is natural, not forced.

The others will come to me.

Andre Agassi, oh my goodness you could leave the room, make a sandwich and he'd still be hitting from corner to corner, sort of like Pong. Yech!

Mauresmo, she doesn't seem to use any power and always looks like it's going to take her forever to get to the ball. She just plays like she's off balance all the time.

I meant the Hewitt of old. But you're right the Hewitt of new is a shadow of his former self.

Hewitt is still fun to watch. I'd say the majority of clay courters are boring to watch, except Nadal and Monfils.

Yea androddick tries way way too hard to be funny and I mean its cute for the first interview, but he trys this **** every single postgame interview and it just gets old. After a while people don't laugh at his jokes and just see him as rude and selfconceited instead of witty. BTW his game absolutely blows goats. I just don' t understand why the US promotes him so much instead of James Blake. He has no game outside the serve period. The guy's whole purpose in life is to be a whipping boy for Roger Federer. Pathetic.

Let's face it, S&V players are going to like watching S&V, mindless baseline bashers have no mind anyway so they prefer watching baseline bashing.

Actually, I like watching both.

I dunno, I gotta agree wit skier here. I'm a S+V player because I lack the patience to just sit back there 20 ft away from the net bombing it all day. Well actually that, and I don't trust my backhand. So i come in a lot.

and when I watch tennis, I just can't stand those baseliners either. I feel that that sort of thing translates for many other people too.

I always thought Sampras was boring to watch, followed by Roddick, Federer, and Maria Sharapova.

^^^LOL. Agree. That is a wide variety of not only styles, but personalities. Might as well not watch tennis.

sucks for you. you must have hated the past 20 years of tennis then.

Well, I always thought Sampras and Roddick were boring cause all they did was depend on their serve to get points..they had no creativity and if their serve wasn't working, they wouldn't win matches. Federer just seems to have no emotion, just very boring to watch...and Sharapova's screeching and boring style of play make me put her on mute and turn the channel soon after....I liked watching the players from the 1970's and 1980;s much better.

There are lots of players that I like to watch today....besides Federer, Roddick, Sharapova....I like to watch Nadal, Tsonga, Blake, Djokovic, Ferrer, and Justine Henin before she retired.....so I do enjoy lots of tennis players from today's game....

If you see repetitive as boring, you're probably not going to like very many of the good players. Winning tournaments is about hitting the same boring winner time after time.

I have yet to see a player use a variety of styles to consistently win matches. The closest thing I think we ever saw to that was maybe Sampras or Becker. Federer could do it as well, but the problem is that attacking the net even for great net players simply doesn't work.

I still think Federer can be the most fun to watch. He has every shot in the book, but sadly even he seems to have decided that winning is really built on just a few shots.

Yeah Roddick is boring, but it just goes to show that having a top 5 serve in the world and a top 20 but reliable forehand can get you into the top 5 even if other aspects of your game rank down in the 100s. Considering these facts, I think Andy's done quite well for some time.

Exactly, If he was struggling to go into deeper rounds in tournaments he would be in the same boat as Davydenko IMHO. He's not marketable at all beyond being a computer/android of a tennis player.

sampras was a great player but not a great player to watch...i found him very boring to watch...agassi amused with his great groundstrokes and fundamentals...sampras had no groundies...
