Most Boring Players To Watch...

Well, I always thought Sampras and Roddick were boring cause all they did was depend on their serve to get points..they had no creativity and if their serve wasn't working, they wouldn't win matches. Federer just seems to have no emotion, just very boring to watch...and Sharapova's screeching and boring style of play make me put her on mute and turn the channel soon after....I liked watching the players from the 1970's and 1980;s much better.

Sampras was more than a serve!!! his FH and volleys were amazing.... and his BH was also great..

you should be bashed for that call, really insultive

He has a point, the surfaces were much faster, which really was what helped Sampras out alot. You think he'd be able to compete on this crap called grass at Wimbledon, or the new AO surface? Yea right.

Pete Sampras...is one my all-time favorite players, but to be honest, watching him play in those mid-90s US hardcourt matches at Indian Wells or Cincinatti against guys like Pat Rafter, Richard Krajicek, etc - very dull.

However, put him in against a baseliner like Andre Agassi and you have an instant classic.

I don't think it's the players that are boring but the same/similar styles.

Jarko Niemenen
Andreas Seppi
Juan Ignacio Chela
Jonas Bjorkman
John Isner
Andy Roddick
Ivo Karlovic
Nicholas Massu

After watching Ferrer Vs Monfils I am adding Monfils to my list of most boring players. He just pitches his tent 20feet behind the baseline and almost never takes a ball on the rise and just relies 100% on his quickness till the other player gets frustrated and loses the match.

albeit a bit annoying, that was actually a "strategy" kind of like the phase he had in juniors where consistency was his game. Was it not nice seeing the ridiculous backhand winner returns? to call le monf boring is just wrong, but i can understand a non-fan being frustrated watching that match

Yea androddick tries way way too hard to be funny and I mean its cute for the first interview, but he trys this **** every single postgame interview and it just gets old. After a while people don't laugh at his jokes and just see him as rude and selfconceited instead of witty. BTW his game absolutely blows goats. I just don' t understand why the US promotes him so much instead of James Blake. He has no game outside the serve period. The guy's whole purpose in life is to be a whipping boy for Roger Federer. Pathetic.

Blake is too much of a wuss. He's not dependable and doesn't have the heart of a champion. Roddick may not be the most gifted player out there, but he has heart, he keeps fighting, and even in a lopsided h2h against Fed, he still tries to up his game. Blake doesn't!

the whole wta is boring now that Martina Hingis left. Actually I would throw Justine Henin in the fun to watch group as well though but jankovic, sharapova, ivanovic, vaidisova, et al are boring.

Agreed . And I found they were boring like never before when playing on clay.

yeah, i think this is what women's tennis has stooped to: and its possible to hit better angles in this game than they do, :)

who bored me?

ivanovic and her fist ( always after a shot, she has to make a sign with her fist. borign and annoying), sharapova and her yells, roddick and all of him, hewitt, karlovic, nadal( so many kabalas, it´s so annoying),.

All the women except for Ivanovic and Kirilenko...because of their amazing play.

All the men except for Federer, Nadal, Safin, Hewitt, and maybe a few others. If those guys are in a match, then it's worth watching for me.

So yeah, tennis can often be a boring sport even for its biggest fans. Kind of sad.

Robredo has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. S williams and Shreikapova are just mindless bashers and noise pollution. Jankovic could ruin a wet dream with her play. Just boring. Pretty much all women bore me unless its a good matchup of top 10 players. Robredo Almagro Karlovic Roddick (unless hes losing LOL) come to mind for the men.

Murray, Ferrer, Davydenko, Robredo, Almagro, Ferrero mostly any of the boring baseliners. All of the women are boring to watch.

I find any player boring to watch if the score isn't close, say Federer or Nadal destroying an opponent that has no shot at winning. I find that very boring to watch.

Federer's match against Hewitt was boring after the first set. The only time Nadal has been exciting to watch at this year's Wimbledon was during his match against Gulbis, where there was some doubt as to the outcome.

Players that are dreadfully boring to watch regardless of the score are Karlovic and Isner.

I don;t understand all people disliking Karlovic and Isner playing. They can upset anyone on any given day on a fast surface and have avery different style than most players. People said the Karlovic-Nadal match at Queens was boring, while in reality, it was Nadal's most exciting match, apart from Djokovic maybe. It came down to very few points, and you can sometimes see very beautiful passing shots. I really like Karlovic, but like players like Lopez and Ancic even better with their style of play.

Justine Henin was one of the worst players to watch. I cringe when she cheats by looking at her coach for every point.

I cringe when she cheats other players...

Baseliners--with very few exceptions--bore me to tears. Barely any strategy to speak of.

Specific to the topic: Sharapova, Djokovic, Nadal, Roddick, Ivanovic. I once had a little window of hope for Vaidasova, but she's so very one dimensional, and seems destined to remain that way.

Djoker, Hewitt.....

How can ANYONE say Ivanovic is boring>?!!! She's got one of the best female forehands ever and it's always a joy to watch her!!

I find offensive baseliners to be very boring. Defensive baseliners are a joy to watch, and it's always nice to see serve and volley as S&V isn't used much nowadays.

I hate watching, Sharapova play, James Blake, Andy Roddick and the William sisters. Boring, boring, boring player's.
