Alright, I'm trying to compile a list of the most challenging video games - so a bit of help would be good. I like it when things are impossible.

Super R-Type (SNES) is one of the first games that comes to mind...

Any platform is welcome.

Most challenging? Missile command. Once you get past the first couple of boards, it turns into a nightmare. Defender comes in second for me. Another tough one is (was) Qix.

But if you're talking about video games designed in the last 15 years, I have no idea.

Battle Toads-NES SOOOOOOOOOO HARD
Metal Slug-Arcade
Original Splinter Cell-XBox/PS2
Jet Force Gemini-N64 (maybe cuz i was young but i remember not beating it)
Ghose Recon-PC

Ninja Gaiden on Master Ninja, or the Hurricane packs, now THAT is damn hard. Gears of War insane was no where near Halo on Legendary, legendary took me a long time to beat.

Super R-type can get pretty tricky especially deep into the game where there are like 5 million things shooting at you, but it is sort of balanced out by the advanced weapons and shields you get at that point.

WHAT? You mean Resident Evil 4? Eh. IMHO, I tore that game up. But, I have heard people that say the Resident Evil series is challenging.

Now that I think about it, R-Type's challenge factor does get balanced out by the advanced weaponry.

Now, if you want to see something that looks impossible, go to You Tube and do a search for "Gradius V High Loop" and you'll see what it means to be good a side-scrolling shooters.

Haha! Ninja Gaiden - good call. Those Ninja Gaiden games were always just tough.

Gosh, now I'm gonna go look for that ROM so I can get beat again...

I only play games against real opponents. So how tough my game is depends on who I am playing- just like in tennis:D

The original Excitebike from Nintendo. I can't pass stage seven. I did pass in the original video game...paying with my quarters...but now in my mac with MacMame...impossible. Pac Man is very hard as well (I just learned a pattern though jejeje). And I was terrible back in the late 70's with Space Invaders.

Fighting the boss of Gears of War on Insane mode was challenging. Took me a while lol. :D

nahh raam was easy multiplayer is a challenge tho

just some info to show off

i have more than 1000 headshots
and more than 5k kills :D

Pur3 MaYheM if u want to play netime..

as for the most challenging game... i guess Tony Hawks Project 8 is almost impossible to get all the sick markers

AGREED, that level where you have to run down within a time limit to kill the bomb while baddies are trying to stop you... Nearly impossible with two players at a time.

TMNT the first was kinda hard.

They dont make games these days like they used to, it was more challenging back then, especially on the NES.

i rekon it was splinter celll. God dammit i just cannot resist shooting and if u do the alarm goes off and u fail ur mission. Its soo god damn annoying. Also every1 says ninja gaiden? on xbox was really hard.

Counter Strike was easy for me back when I played it. (Xbox though) What's the highest online rank you achieved? I know mine was fairly high for a while.

No offense, but the competition difference for CS on the PC and the Xbox is huge. Not only is the PC community probably 10x (100x?) larger, almost all the serious leagues and and major events for money were on the PC.
