Finding the right shoe is a constant struggle.
It seems there are two opposing forces at work.

1. Everybody's feet are different to some extent- so- there is
no one perfect shoe out there. There is always a compromise between softness
and support, lightness and durability, fashion and utility,. the shoe with the
perfect fit- length, width, arch, heel, vamp, snuggness, affordability... may lack other desirable qualities.
And then...

2. No sooner do you find the shoe that best shoe- a shoe you can live with, then the next
season a new design shows up on the market- and the exhausting process repeats.

but the shoe that has the best affordability, snuggness, performance, etc across the most cross-section of people is considered the best shoe. True, it can't fit everyone but that's the benchmark.

Head Revolt Pro 3.5 are awesome and very comfortable. But the sizing is off, so, make sure you get the right size.

Adidas Barricade 7 (aka Novak) - comfortable with great support. I played mostly with them from 2012-2019 and they would last 70-90 hours on hard courts which is about 2 months for me. Since they had a six-month sole warranty, I invariably got a second pair free. I think I played with more than 30 pairs over the years.

those were good shoes. heavy, but comfy and plenty of support. seems a shame that they disappeared

Best all-time would be the Nike Air Oscillate. Light, comfortable, low profile. They did not last long but they were great while they lasted.

Diadora are a surprisingly comfy shoe that is out now. Yonex have a great reputation for shock absorption. Overall comfort is going to come primarily from the way that the shoe fits.

Thanks y'all. I'll try out some of these. Thank goodness for the internet where I can just order multiple brands and sizes, then simply send back the ones that don't fit or perform good enough.

Considering everything: the break in period, cushioning, comfort during play and ventilation, I am impressed with the Head Revolt 3.5.

The most comfortable tennis shoe I have ever worn is the Babolat SFX 3.

They have a reputation as being incredibly comfortable and it is well earned.

Probably the best bargain in tennis, too, given that they often go on sale at extremely low prices.

As others have mentioned, the Nike Turbo GP is another impossibly comfortable shoe. This is a step beyond the Babooat SFX 3 as the Turbo GP manages to be almost as comfortable as the SFX 3 while having better energy return and better stability.

Recently switched over to the Nike Vapor NXT Reacts because my feet were getting sore from wearing the VX after matches. I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort level of the NXTs. I have relatively wide feet and low arch but the NXTs accommodate my feet very well. They’re not the perfect shoe but I intend to keep wearing them so long as my feet respond well in them.

I agree with you in a sense. However, I find that sometimes they feel good in the house but then on the court they may not feel so good when you actually put some time on the court. I have had that happen more than once. A waste of money if they do not feel good on the court.

Adidas Barricade IV (2008?) I had a friend who closed down his pro shop and sold me four pairs, $75 each. These were the greatest tennis shoes ever made. Unbelievable comfort and durability. Every pro at the club wore them and loved them. Absolute legendary shoe.

B4 were durable and super stable but definitely not comfortable off the court…

Second the original ASICS Court FF. So comfortable but also very light and really fast feeling. Shame they don’t make them anymore as nothing else is remotely close.

My favorite shoe of all time was the Nike Air Max Breathe Free IIs. They were comfortable, light, and a great performance shoe. They came in a variety of colors as well as NikeID. Because of it's high remarks in all of the previous categories, it was not at all durable but was backed by a 6-month warranty.

Switched from Adidas to Diadora 10 years ago and never looked back. They offer supreme comfort. Currently using the Blue shield fly AG model.

Based on the comments here I ordered the GP Turbos (half size up) which are on sale for only $105 in limited sizes. Hopefully no more foot pain after 3-3.5 hrs of hardcourt play as with the original CFF1's (I currently wear the CFF2's and experience some foot pain). Will report back after a few sessions with them.

Not tried them in a while but I've come across quite a few other people with the same issue I have had in the past -- Asics, Adidas and some of the other more popular alternatives that ppl often rave about, are just too damn narrow for my D+ feet.

I had pretty good luck with Nike, New Balance and Prince. They often come in EE or 4E. Even their D width is often suitable since their D seems to be a bit wider than the D from other shoe makers.

The mostest awesomest athletic shoes I've tried are technically not tennis shoes. They are x-trainers from Nike. I am referring to their Air Monarch athletic shoes. I have found them quite suitable for tennis, badminton, volleyball & general walking around.

Slightly on the heavy side but not overly so. Very decent durability. By far, they have had the best combination of support (heel) and comfort / cushion. They appear to have outstanding midsole cushioning and unsurpassed insole cushioning.

Usually find them for $40-$65 USD. I've paid two to three times as much or more for premium tennis shoes and none have been as comfortable or as awesome.

I'm not sure these are the most comfortable, but the Resolutions seemed to work the best for managing knee pain.

Funny you mention this because I had some weirdness going on in one knee recently and part of the reason I’ve gone back to the GR8 lately is it seems the knee doesn’t bark when I’m wearing them vs my others.

I commented earlier about the Babolat SFX3 and also the Nike GP Turbos.

Another update - I have just got my hands on a slightly early pair of NB Fresh Foam Lav 2's..... these are also contenders.

An insanely comfortable shoe. Anyone who loved everything about the first version of the Lav's except for the Bootie construction, you might really like this updated version.
