I am wondering if anyone knows what the record for most consecutive games lost in a match victory is?

I remember watching McEnroe lose 11 straight games in his 1980 US Open Semifinal against Jimmy Connors. McEnroe was up 5-4 in the second and before he knew it, he lost the set 7-5, lost the third set 6-0, and was down 2-0 in the fourth.

Of course, its possible for a player to lose 18 straight games in a match but still win.

correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't 18 straight games would be 6-0, 6-0, 6-0? i think you mean 17 straight games.

I think the OP meant 18 consecutive anywhere in the match..
you could be up 5-0, lose 18 consecutive games to go down 5-7, 0-6, 0-5, then comeback to win in 5 sets :)

Lisa Raymond was down 6-0 5-0 and 30-0 to Lubomira Kurhajcova in the 1R of the 04 French Open. And she won 0-6 7-5 6-3.
