Everyone played with the same conditions. Federer's opponents had to play bo5 finals too.

If 19yo Nadal won 4 masters in one year I don't think it was too hard to dominate at masters level.
It's not like Nadal was your average 19 years old.He was already so damn good on clay and his level on hard courts was more than enough for success at the masters level.

Right, it's a fantastic record, but I think people underestimate how close Djokovic is to it.

Federer had 23 straight semis whereas Djokovic had 14 straight semis, a quarterfinal, then 9 more semis. Djokovic was a match away from 24 straight semis. While I know that almost getting a record isn't the same as getting it - it doesn't make Djokovic much less consistent.

Quarterfinals is a bit better to see the difference between the two, but they're still very similar.

Dang, didn’t realize Nole was that close. Great stuff.

Fed’s 18 of 19 consecutive slam finals always blows my mind.

i want to say karlovic or chang. I looked at consistency differently. I looked at it as who's playing style seemed to be the same from beginning to end of career. sure karlovic refined his volleys a little and change tried to add some pop to his serve but they looked like the same players playing the same points from beginning to end of career. maybe Edberg too while we're at it
