Federer will always be at least the 4th because at least he has a "chance" of knocking out the other 3 regardless of surface. Ferrer is only good for taking off a set off each guy at their fav slam except for Nadal at RG.
I was looking at slam results and I find it interesting that except for Federer and Nadal both guys have won less titles (or none at all) at their most consistent slam. Some of these can definitely be argued in a different direction
Andy Murray - Australian Open - F, F, SF, F Best (2010-2013)
US Open - F, 4rd, 3rd, SF, W Worst (2008-2012)
* I would have thought that Murray's first title would have come at AO since he was knocking on that door for quite a while. What makes Djoker that much better on slow hardcourt? If Wimbledon is suppose to be his precious why couldnt he beat a resurgent Roddick in 09 Wimb. Why did Murray fall apart in 2011 after bossing around Nadal with his forehand of all things? Only to be double broken in the next 2 sets after winning the first?
Rafael Nadal - French Open - W, W, W, W, R16, W, W, W, W Best (2005-2013) Australian Open - QF, SF, W, QF, QF, F Worst (2007-2012)
* He did win his first HC slam here but why does it seem like bad luck has followed him here over the years with one of his few losses to Tsonga (8-3 H2H) and his injuries while playing Murray and Ferrer in previous years. I could be speaking too soon but noone will ever win 8 slams at one particular slam again. Will we ever see another individual use the Nadal Lefty Forehand again and not a Dimitrov type copycat?
Novak Djokovic - US Open - F, SF, SF, F, W, F Best (2007-2012)
Wimbledon - SF, 2rd, QF, SF, W, SF, F Worst (2007-2013)
*It took the 4th try to get past Federer here yet he continues to have problems getting past Nadal and Murray in previous years. Wimbledon being his worst slam its interesting to see how he cant match up to Murray or Federer with 3 straight set losses between them both. With Nadal he manages to take the first set in 07 wimb and a 7-6, 7-5 at queen's club in 08 and a 4 set win in 2011. This is anecdotal evidence that match ups do exist good or bad.
Roger Federer - US Open - W, W, W, W, W, F, SF, SF Best (2004-2011)
French Open - 3rd, SF, F, F, F, W, QF, F, SF (2004-2012)
*He may have been the most dominant at Wimb but his longevity at USO is unmatched for his career. What was fed's best surface? Seems like HC wins out even though WB is his most impressive overall. Its too bad that he had to play a 3 time FO champ in 2004 FO. He made good runs at RG not because the surface aided him but he was the better player on the day most of the time except for when he played Nadal at RG.
