Federer reaching the finals of 10 consecutive Grand Slams.
Lendl reaching the finals of 8 consecutive U.S. Opens.
Borg winning the French Open and Wimbledon for three consecutive years.
Evert winning at least one Grand Slam for 12 consecutive years.
Federer reaching the semifinals or better of 15 consecutive Grand Slams.
Connors reaching the semifinals or better at 12 consecutive U.S. Opens.
Federer winning Wimbledon and the U.S. Open for four consecutive years.
Connors reaching the quarterfinals or better at 27 consecutive Grand Slams (entered).

What about Nadal's streak on clay courts? I am not a die hard fan, but being able to play on the stuff, and the way he pulled it off it phenomenal within its own right.

Federer on the other hand is a history book by himself, so he shouldn't be included. *I might get bashed for that, but I don't care*

Agassi's 20 year transformation from brat to humanitarian, father, husband, U.S. Open finalist in his 30's and ambassador to the sport is greater than any or all combined that were listed.

Anybody know why Borg did not play int he French in 76 and 77? I just looked at the Roland Garos website and his name is not listed in the draw in either year but her won in 74, 75, 78, 79, 80, 81.

Imagine if he had played in those two years in the middle of that streak. he probably would have won and no one would be talking about Nadal's streak if Barg's was 9 consecutive.

Borg winning FO and Wimbledon for three consecutive years.Even if someone repeats this incredible feat(not likely) it would still not be nearly the same accomplishment because back then grass and clay were a LOT more different than today.

I have a weird feeling Wayne Ferreira holds the record for consecutive Slams participated in.

EDIT: "Ferreira holds the record for the most consecutive Grand Slam tournament appearances in men's tennis. He participated in 56 consecutive Grand Slams between 1991 and 2004. (Stefan Edberg held the previous record of 54.)"

Sampras' year end #1 ranking for six consecutive years.

Nice list, but I would also include some of these:

Sampras:
6 consecutive year end number 1

Federer:
25 consecutive finals won

Rosewall:
7 consecutive French Pro championships
24 consecutive years of winning a singles title

Tilden:
7 consecutive Davis Cups won (when Davis Cup was more important than today)
6 consecutive US Opens

Borg:
11 consecutive victories against Vilas
33 consecutive Davis Cup matches won
14 consecutive 5-set matches won

Navratilova:
6 consecutive grand slams titles
6 consecutive Wimbledon titles, 9 consecutive Wimbledon finals, 13 consecutive Wimbledon semi-finals, 20 consecutive Wimbledon quarter-finals

Evert:
125 consecutive wins on clay

I believe Borg lost to Adriano Panatta in 1976; you might want to re-read the RG drawsheet for that year.

Making the finals of the US Open, or any major, 8 years in a row shows not only ability but longevity, one of the greatest traits a champion can have. 15 straight Slam semis, or 10 finals, is great, but is only 4 years long (but the surface changes also show greatness).

Nadal IMO does not become an option, last year he could have had a clay slam but lost that last masters to Roger when it got all wet.

Too bad as he would have held a title that would be 100% impossbile to hold ever again, and he would have had the most consecutive wins out of all men and women tennis players, as a result Nadal only has more wins than any man.

It is alright though as Roger will never break 21 slams and can only at best break Pete's slam record

I'd also put Connors making 5 consecutive US Open Finals on THREE different surfaces, winning 3 of those 5, on that list.

Also, Evert making the semis or better at 48 of her first 49 Grand Slam events over a 16 year period.

Evert winning at least one Grand Slam for 12 consecutive years.

Evert won a major a year for 13 straight years, not 12. The men's equivalent is Borg & Sampras, they did that for 8 straight years.

To me the most impressive streaks involve winning titles, not just making semis & finals.

Martina N winning 6 straight majors is up there.

When did she do that? I looked it up and the best she ever did was 4, Steffi Graf got 5.

The AO was in December in her time. Her streak:

'83 W
'83 USO
'83 AO
'84 FO
'84 W
'84 USO

When she lost in the semis of the '84 AO, it not only ruined her attempt at the calendar slam, it ended her 74 match win streak(going back to January of that year)

IMHO, achievements in women's tennis don't compare to those in men's tennis. If you want to include that, then you might as well include men's college tennis too, or men's junior.

You also have to stay healthy and have a decent ranking. If it's so easy then everyone would do it. :)

Sure, Santoro's record (I presume that's what you're talking about) is impressive. It's just that it isn't as impressive as the semi-final, final, GS-win, or #1 streaks.

Remember, those guys who get to all those finals or semifinals have played a lot more tennis than Santoro in a shorter period of time.

Oh no, I totally agree. Ballzofskill said all you have to do is show up and it's just not that simple. I'm not saying it's the greatest streak or anything.

another one that is rarely quoted, but that i find very impressive:
lendl reaching the finals of 9 consecutive masters [1980-1988] !
(even if according to some sources, he tanked a RR match in 1980 for avoiding borg in the SF and reaching more easily the final) ;)
qualifying for the masters 9 straight years is already amazing... so reaching the final on 9 straight occasions !
(he made it 12 straight years to the masters... always reaching -at least- the SF)

but my favorite consecutive record, that's roger's 10 straight slam finals. :)

Evert's Streak of finals, wins and marked consistancy at and outside the majors to me is most impressive...as shown in her 90% winning percentage..best all time among WTA and ATP players during the open era...Although Federers records are all up there...Evert takes it...least for me

Just to clarify:

- Borg did not lose a Davis Cup match in his adult life from what I know. Correct me if I'm wrong

- Borg lost at Roland Garros only twice and to the same player (Panatta) .. in 1973 (4r) and 1976 (qf).

Agreed, 4 years at number 1 is the top accomplishment.

Gonzalez was the game's top player longer than Federer. Different era, of course, but all things considered what's impressive about Roger is the extent to which he has dominated, not as much for how long. If he stays #1 for two more years then we're talking.

I vote for Pete's 6 year end No.1 in a row.

Yeah, this should be more well-known. This probably gets forgotten among Lendl's 8 straight USO finals(though he only won 3 of those 8, while here he won 5 of 9)

It's crazy he was in the finals of both the USO & the Masters for 7 straight years('82-'88). He really liked playing in NY(easy commute for him)

And 4 of the 9('82-'85) years he made the finals at the Masters they used a single elimination format, which makes his feat all the more impressive. Of course he was part of the reason they changed the format;)

Over a 7 year period('81-'87) he was 25-2 at the Masters, winning 5 titles.

Agreed. And she did it during the toughest era of women's tennis: King, Court, Goolagong, Austin, Navratilova, Mandlikova, Graf

Federer reaching the finals of 10 consecutive Grand Slams is an incredible achievement. That is the best in my opinion.
