Most Impressive Grand Slam of Big 3 That He Didn't Win

What do you consider the most impressive Grand Slam of a Big 3 Member that he didn't win. Some that come to mind for each:

Federer
2009 Australian - defeats Safin, Del Potro, and Roddick without the loss of a set. Comes from two sets to love down to defeat Berdych
2011 French Open - doesn't lose a set on way to semifinals. Defeats Djokovic in semifinals (biggest non-Grand Slam final win ever?)
2014 Australian Open - defeats Tsonga in straight sets and Murray in four sets
2014 Wimbledon - reaches final losing one set, pushes #1 seed to 6-4 in the fifth set final loss at the age of 32

Nadal
2007 Wimbledon - plays 7 straight days - pushes 4 time champion, Federer, 6-2 in the fifth set of final
2011 Wimbledon - defeats Del Potro and Murray
2012 Australian Open - defeats Berdych and Federer from a set down to win long 4 set matches

Djokovic
2012 French Open - comes from two sets to love down to defeat Seppi, fights off match points against Tsonga, crushes Federer in semifinals

I would add Wimbledon 2013 for Djokovic, I know he lost in straight sets but he was very good against Haas, Berdych and Del Potro...

Only one for Djokovic? Why are you people have to underrate Djokovic in every single post!!!! Why?

Here are slams where Djokovic was the best player and should have won them, but many outside factors denied him the win:

W 2007 - the extremely difficult schedule caused him to retire to Nadal in SF where he was clearly better player and won the first set 63, while he could play. The final is questionable, but I am sure he would be able to handle and be at least on par with Fed who had many troubles vs Nadal who was clearly the worse player on the tournament than even tired Djokovic with feet full of blisters.
USO 2007 - 7 set points to go to two sets up in the final. Was better player in first two sets.
USO 2010 - Tired after beating Fed in the epic SF, while Nadal was enjoying yet another cakewalk and scheduling advantage.
RG 2011 - Lucky Fed in GOAT mode beat him by two points in two TBs. Would handle Nadal in the final with ease.
RG 2012 - Rain and biased officials stopped him.
USO 2012 - Wind. Was better player than Murray in the tournament and final as well.
RG 2013 - Pascal Maria - everything was said already. The most unjust slam in the history,
W 2013 - Much more difficult schedule than Murray. Epic match in the SF. Going vs whole country was too much for him in the final.
USO 2013 - Better player than Nadal in the whole tournament. Nadal won only due to much easier draw and favorable schedule. Tired Djokovic lost focus at the end of 3rd and turned into UE machine in the 4th.
AO 2014 - was better than Wawrinka overall, but lost by a point or two. Had a break in the fifth. There was no one stopping him after.
RG 2014- sick (flu) and tired in the final. Nadal had extreme cakewalk yet again.

In the 2009 Aussie Open run, Federer ravaged Del Potro 6-3, 6-0, 6-0 in the quarters and took out a revived Roddick in straights.

He lost 7-5 and 7-6 sets to Nadal in that final off of sheer mental crumbling.

Same for 2011 French.

Utter nonsense. That final was close, the weather was exactly the same for both players but Murray clearly proved to be the better player overall!

You are ridiculously biased and unobjective when it comes to Djokovic. According to you he should have won EVERY single GS final he lost and probably every other match he has lost as well. That is absurd! There have been many occasions where Djokovic simply lost to the better player. He is no different to anybody else in that regard.

Trying to argue that Djokovic is some kind of invincible Superman and Nadal, one of the greatest players in the Open Era, is some kind of villain who only ever won all his titles through sheer luck or biased umpiring is making you look ridiculous and impossible to take any of your posts seriously!

Djokovic: AO 14

Wawrinka had a framed return on 30-30 in the last game that somehow went in. And lets not even talk about the volley on match point

FO 12: Rain stopped him from destroying nadal for the rest of the match

USO 13: better than nadal the whole tournament, but choked when it really mattered

Uh...2005 AO for Federer, anyone?

Reached the SF without dropping a set, seemingly in terrifying form after dominating Agassi. Then plays a classic against Safin and comes up a bit short.

Also, Wimbledon 2008.

I'll throw in the French Open 2011, of course, as well as the 2011 US Open and perhaps even 2012 Australian Open.

For Nastall, I'd say this year's AO up until he faked the back injury. Wimbledon 2011. US Open 2011. Australian Open 2012.

Djokovic...FO 2013. Blown overhead may have cost him the toppling of Nadal moment.

Very odd that you don't mention Federer's USO 09. He was a couple of points away from winning the final in straight sets. A final he reached by beating (among others) Djokovic and a certain very confident Swede.

Yeah, just terrible of me to have the bare-faced cheek and effrontery to suggest that Djokovic might not actually have been the better player when he lost at some of his Slams! Clearly I could only be motivated by sheer hatred and unfair bias against The Great One to even think of saying such a thing!!!

I agree with what you say Mainad but you should know by now that SOG is indeed The Great One and is at this very moment preparing to slay the rest of the tour this summer.

No matter how you try to twist it Djokovic was the better player in USO 2012 final.

No need for such silly xenophobic overreaction. I thought you are better than overzealous Fedal fans. I guess not.

Exactly my point. I'm often accused (unfairly) of being too much of a Murray fan but I'd throw up in the nearest bucket at the thought of saying the kind of things about him Chico thinks appropriate to say about Djokovic. In fact I'd probably retire from this forum out of a sense of shame. But that's the essential difference between Chico and me, isn't it? At least, I possess one!

I agree mate. Mainad RULES!! :)

Nah. Sorry but he can't "rule" when he posts junk, insults and xenophobic slurs like he did in this thread, only because he didn't like my opinion on one of the matches. No need to insult people only because they have different opinion. Anyway no need to talk about that. I already said what I have about him:

He is generally OK, but sometimes he gets into this crazy uncontrollable mode and starts spewing nonsense. Not sure why, but it will pass. Just give it a bit of time.

Please now everyone get back to topic. No need to cater to Mainad's overreactions and insults.

Thanks.

For Nadal certainly Wimbledon 2007. That was impressive.

For Federer...I'm not sure, I'm between Australian Open 2005/09, French Open 2011, Wimbledon 2014 and US Open 2009.
Plus Wimbledon 2001!

For Djokovic...hard to say, he's got quite a couple of good runs but prior to 2011 I hardly ever thought he'd make it all the way. I think the French Open 2013 stands out the most. And the US Open final 2010 perhaps on a 2nd thought. That was really really good and he certainly did a lot better on the way to the final while Nadal was crusing against a...not too difficult field.

The amount of bias in your post is incredible.

W 2007: Djokovic wasn't going to beat prime Federer on grass anyway, you probably had a near heart attack just 2 weeks ago.

RG 2011: Fed was simply better, you even said he was in GOAT mode. Obviously Novak didn't deserve it then if he can't beat post-prime Fed on clay.

RG 2013: Just stop. Now. Novak was stupid himself by touching the net, and rules are rules and stop whining.

AO 2014: LOL Novak was nowhere impressive, the choke job in the last 2 points says it all.

Yes, I forgot AO this year, he lost a tight match against Wawrinka in 5 sets, would probably beat both Berdych and Nadal in straight sets.
