Most low Powered Multifilaments Compared

I have been looking for a low powered multifilament for a while and couldn't find any information comparing their relative power, spin potential, control ect. I ended up just buying all low powered multis to try. I will leave this here for reference if anyone in the future is looking for the same thing. All ratings are subjective and personal so your experience may vary. Ratings for these are relative to eachother only. For example, though I rated RPX as a 3 in power, it is a very powerful string and more powerful than most polys that I have tried.

I strung all the same way

Racquet: Ezone 100
Mains: Tested string 57lb
Crosses: Multifeel 1.30 @ 57lbs
Gauge for mains 1.30 (1.28 for triax as there is no 1.30)

Technifibre Multifeel
Power: 7
Spin: 7
Control: 4
Comments: Crisp. Feels very springy.

Head Velocity MLT
Power: 6
Spin: 6.5
Control: 5
Comments: Feels mushy but not too muted.

Prince Premier Control
Power: 5.5
Spin: 5
Control: 5
Comments: Feels almost exactly like a syn gut. Plays similar but with a little more feel.

Isospeed Control Original
Power: 5
Spin: 5
Control: 5.5
Comments: Stiff and crisp string. Good playability duration

Isospeed Control
Power: 4--->6 within a few hours of hitting
Spin: 6.5
Control: 7--->4.5 within a few hours of hitting
Comments: When it starts out, it is very muted but with excellent control and spin. Then it gets a little wild

Head RIP Control
Power: 3--->5 within a few hours of hitting
Spin: 5.5
Control: 7-->5 within a few hours of hitting
Comments: Also made by isospeed but branded by Head. Plays similar to Isospeed control with a little less power to start.

Technifibre HDMX
Power: 6
Spin: 7.5
Control: 4
Comments: Felt springy and inconsistent. Would seemingly randomly sometimes spray shots. Fairly powerful.

Technifibre RPX
Power: 3
Spin: 7
Control: 7.5
Comments: Worse spin than triax but still very good spin and control. Plays pretty stiff; not muted.

Technifibre Triax
Power: 4
Spin: 7.5
Control: 6.5
Comments: Far more power than any poly with almost as good spin. Very predictable response off the string bed.

Feel: CRISP RPX > Triax > Isospeed Control Original = Prince Premier Control = HDMX = Multifeel > Velocity MLT > Isospeed Control > RIP Control MUSH

I remember playing with a string called Babolat M7 a while back. It had a good crisp response with a low power level. It’s like a multi but has a unique feel.

I play a lot with Isospeed Professional Classic, the 17 version of the Control, and find that to be the softest of soft strings, so its interesting that you find the 16 Control Classic to be a stiff string. TWU numbers has very low stiffness ratings on these strings.

I do agree on most of your values.

Is Multifeel the black or natural version ? I find that the black version plays a lot different than the natural version, almost like another string.

Thanks for sharing.

The black version. I have some of the natural version I haven’t gotten around to trying. I may be biased for the control classic cause it felt really stiff and wirey while I was stringing it up

This is awesome, thanks for sharing. Any notable differences in playability duration worth sharing? Considering tension, coating, etc

I didn’t measure tension loss as it doesn’t always correlate with loss of playability

Multifeel plays the same until it snaps but the coating wears off in a few hours. Snapback stays somehow

Velocity MLT coating doesn’t wear off but gets roughened up and gets stuck in less than an hour

Isospeed control and head rip control become a little more launchy after just 2 hours of hitting

Prince premier control plays the same throughout its lifespan

Have not hit with isospeed control classic, RPX, HDMX enough to know how it would change

Triax maintains playability for the 6 hours I have used it so far with no fraying yet either.
