Most significant and most realisitic achievement remaining for Federer in 2016?

What do you think is the most significant and most realistic achievement remaining for Federer in 2016?

I would think:
Qualify for the ATP Tour Finals - would be 15th overall/consecutive year doing so
Win a Title - would extend his record to 16 consecutive seasons of winning at least 1 Title
Finish year in the top 10 for a 15th year

Like those achievements, but I'd value whatever his mark is for Top 3, higher than Top 10.

Some more:
  • An eighth Cincy title would mean a lot to me.
  • Don't especially care, but medaling at the Olympics would be remarkable, given where his career seemed to be headed a few years ago.
  • Reaching R3 at USO would put him at over 80 match wins at three majors.

It's funny how different the expectations would be if Fed had held at 40-0 and won the ensuing breaker against Rao.

Then even if Fed lost to Murray, there would be a lot of talk about him being a top guy for the US Open.

IMO Federer is a contender for the US Open, although I do want to see him stay healthy and continue to get match fit.

Fed is like 5th or 6th favourite for us open. He doesn't have much chance really!

Significant? Win an MS-1000 or slam by defeating players ranked above him in decisive manner. Realistic? Just win one title, even if it's just Basel. Realistically speaking, if he could end the year without missing any more tournaments due to health issues, I think it would be a good thing and a stepping stone to perhaps one last great run in 2017.

win Real Slam win USO then mic drop and ride off into sunset.

It would look something like this

haha I hope they queue up the "end credits" now, and have an hour or three allotted at every single big tournament he plays until the end of his career. :D

Fed dropped the ball not getting 18, now him and his fans will be twitching, with Djoko and nadal still breathing down his neck! You act like his slam record is safe, remember Djoko is 6 years younger and nadal is 5 years younger.
Serious question: which fan base is doing more "twitching" over Father Time closing in? Djok can secure #2... Fed can create more distance at #1...

Nadal is done winning slams....and Djokovic will not sustain that grinding style in to his 30's. When he falls, it will not be pretty. He's not going to go away slow like Sampras and Federer. It will be quick and brutal.

Djoko is 29 and has to get another 50% of slams he has won.

Stop smoking and get back to reality.

Not smoking anything! He only 5 slams behind, he always big favourite at OZ and quite a strong fav at us open. Plus French he will get more chances. Wimbledon might be hardest to win again. There is still enough time, especially if he wins next 2!

Lmao do you not know the difference between 17 and 12? Your boy kinda blew a chance this Wimbledon.

Haha you hope you mean. You fed fans can't ever imagine what it would be like if he lost the slam record! Imagine if he ended up in 3rd place, what would you say?

Assuming he's not injured, he should win Cincinnati, and probably go deep at USO again.

Don't care for Olympic Gold, he has one already and a silver.

He only 5 behind! I repeat he couldn't keep winning them all. He just won 4 in a row, so was bound to stumble at somepoint. He'll be big fav for us open and OZ, if got to 14 after them 2, you'll defo start worrying then!

Only 5? LMAO! Your tears are going to taste sweet after he falls....Oh it's coming and it's coming soon.

Djokovic is lucky to not have any upcoming great players 5 years younger than him and rivals who fell with injuries (Murray and DelPotro).

Here is poster above when Djokovic fails to win "only 5" more slams...

Nah. If he doesn't do it! Djoko still one of the greatest players of all time! Likely he'll end up in top 3 at very least. However, that's more likely to be your reaction if your idol is caught.

Plus Djoko already has a few records over fed anyway and has better h2h stats. Just hope more records can tumble!

Federer still gets more support all over the world except Serbia even though he is a shadow of a player he once was at his peak. That is not going to change.

Depends, at a guess the Rio court will be a tar pit or an ice rink.

I think Fed's goal should be to reach the US Open final, and if he can get through with energy in reserve it'll be a coin toss. I think that's the other slam he has a good chance at.

That doesn't mean there are no exceptions to the rule. Did you expect Djoko to double his slam count from 6 to 12 when he appointed Becker at end of 2013. I certaintly didn't, the future is unpredictable.

No it's not. He had his run and he won't have another run like this in his career.................certainly not in his 30's.
