Most talented Russian female player ?

The top ten is full of Russians, and it's just a matter of time before a Russian becomes #1.

I was wondering of the Russians, who has the best chance of becoming #1 ?

Even though Myskina and Dementieva have had the most consistent results, the Russians who have the best tennis games are (in my opinion) Sharapova, Petrova, Bovina, Zvonareva.

With Sharapova, I feel she needs to work on variety and not just power. Petrova and Bovina have big games, huge serves and groundstrokes, much like Lindsay Davenport, and should be doing much better than they have.

Although Kuznetsova won the US Open, I feel that the ones I've listed are slightly better tennis players.

One thing is for sure, the Russians have taken over women's tennis for now. It's too tough for Lindsay and Williams to beat all these Russian players day in day out.

I don't know.. I guess there will be a Russian No 1 sometime soon if JHH/Clijsters/Williams all continue on their injured/disinterested paths.

The thing is a lot of the Russians u mentioned are greate athletes playing tennis. There's not anyone I've seen (with perhaps Kuznetsova being the exception) that shows a good tennis brain. But then again.. what do I know.. I don't watch WTA :P

Bovina and Zvonereva have little chance at #1 or even a slam win. Bovina is a poor man's Lindsay D, and Vera is too erratic, not capable of coming up with the goods when it matters most. Neither has an in tune Capriati's grit or game. Since that big French win over Capriati Petrova has been a major disppointment, top 10 but not any threat for #1 unless they all get injured or retire. A healthy Clijsters, and Henin looking more and more unlkley, have all of their numbers. Elena is the real deal of the bunch if you combine power, consistency off the ground and raw physical assets. We are going overboard with these other Russians. As you recall, in the semis of the Open Lindsay D was all over Svetlana like a rug over Alan Brady before the injury and even up 3-0 in the 3rd when severely hobbled. Svetlana really couldn't hang well with her at all and won't beat the Wiliiams sisters if they decide to play again.

zvonareva

i love watching zvonareva play...she beats players ranked below her so easily...i think once she can get over that hump and start to beat players ranked above her...she will be huge...she has a much more rounded and varied game then sharapova, better instincts and more power then myskina, petrova and bovina both have movement issues cuz they are so tall..kinda like a davenport, and dementieva....well i dont think things need to be said there...seems like she has the worst serve on tour and i havent even seen any improvement on it over the past few years so shes not doing much to fix it.....i really do feel zvonareva has all the right skills and shes amazingly talented...she just needs to start beating top players

In my opinion, Kuznetsova leads the race on this one, at least at right now that is. It's definitely between Svetlana and Maria Sharapova.

Best Russian woman

Although time will tell, I certainly am also going with Kuznetsova as the best of the Russian women. I feel her talent is vastly underrated and I expect her to be the cream of the crop in 2005.

If Anna chooses to stay retired next year, Svetlana rulz. If not, lights out for all of the above, its Anna to the extreme.

Russian players are all mentally weak. Look at anyone of them, maybe except Sharapova, cause she has american mentality.
Myskina is a psycho on the court, Dementieva has weak nerves and serves, Zvonareva is the most crazy of them all. She is about to cry everytime she loses a point...
If judging game-wise, I would say Svetlana then Elena B. (if not injured) then Vera. Maria is up there as well, although she still has to learn many things..
