Moving from Pure Aero 23 to Clash V3?

Hi,

I have been playing with the Pure Aero for about 2 years and love the easy depth and power. However 2 years of playing with such a stiff racquet has resulted in several arm issues. I am suffering from mild golfers elbow and wrist issues.

I know my issues have a lot to do with technique but am considering switching to clash V3 for doubles to make it easier on my arms. My thoughts are that since doubles requires quick reactions, the lower weight and easy maneuverability of clash would help. I could continue with Pure Aero for singles maybe.

I use gut / poly hybrid with gut as mains and sometimes a full bed of multifilament. So I guess, strings are not an issue. I believe I need to try a softer racquet.

Anyone experience making this switch/ playing with both racquets, please share your thoughts.

My level of play is intermediate. Mostly play with ITN 7-6 players and sometimes ITN 5.

I play both the Pure Strike 100g4 (not an Aero I know, but it’s a Babolat and also has a lot of power) and the Clash 98v1 and now the Clash 100 Prov3 all with full bed multis. I do not notice an appreciable difference in power. The Strike has a heavier more penetrating ball flight, but both provide ample free power.

Between clash 100 pro and regular clash what would you suggest?

Does the 16*20 pattern of pro feel much different to a 16*19?

Mannarino plays with an Aero string at 24 lbs. He did it because he had wrist issues. I play my Pro Staff at 28 lbs. That low tension will give you great power for short strokes in doubles. If you have a second racket put some syn gut in there at 28.

-try the w.clash with a soft poly to start, luxilon.element/soft/rough
-i would try 45lbs to start
-btw im not a fan of the gut/poly combo, never have
-i preffer fb poly at lower tension

What do you not like about gut/poly?
IMO It has good power and comfort. It is a little expensive but I am not a string breaker. So mine lasts quet a bit.

You think full bed soft poly at a lower tension can be as comfortable as a gut poly?

I’ve only played with the 100 Pro v3, but from what I remember of the 100v1, definitely recommend the Clash Pro. The 16x20 does help with the both stability and control, especially important for the Clash. Still lively tho.

So the swing weight of Clash pro and Pure Aero 300g is similar.

Would the clash pro still be more maneuverable than the Aero because of it being more head light/ having lower RA rating?

Very maneuverable. While there’s substantial hitting weight on the racquet face, it’s still highly maneuverable, evidenced by the HL balance. The slight change in head shape helps too IME
