hi, andres! :)

i'd love to even see chucho serve once! :) :(
because there have been transmission problems. transmission started late, then froze, and suddenly after the umpire said one minute, it was 3 love fena. then a bunch of buffering.

and now it's 5 love.
what happened to chucho's serve?

Andres

G.O.A.T.
He switched from a pinpoint stance to a plattform stance. Dont know why, specially since he had a huge serve. And his % has really improved

Maybe he changed his serve by Markus' advice (his new coach). his first serve % is higher but not that much. I do not like this serve, or maybe he has a physical problem but i doubt it.

i really love the net camera, the view is fun. :)

gonzalez appears to be moving well... but at the moment, both players are stuck on the clay by my poor livestream. it's probably time to go to bed... buenas noches a todos !

by the way, where are oscar and his (promised) lobster ?
i hope he is not eating it alone, that wouldn't be cool !

I didn't realize that Gonzalez was playing in front of his home crowd. What a thrill it must have been for the local fans. With this win, Gonzalez moves into 15th place ahead of Soderling and Wawrinka. Ferrer is only 130 points ahead of him. Good going Gonzalez. I sure remember you from the AO last year. He was majic then and had that same touch tonight.

Brazil didn't draw a lot of high ranked players. Almagro, #17, and Robredo, #20, are it. But Acasuso is also entered there and he is in Robredo's half. Should be fun to watch to see if he can take him out again.

Congrats to Gonzo on the win. especially in that fashion in front of his home crowd. Must have been great.

disappointingly poor livestream!
i actually started listening to an audio book while waiting for the screen to unfreeze.

I agree about that net cam. it's funny on changeovers when they sweep the court, because the groomers sweep dust right at that cam when they get close to the net (almost as if they dont know it's there ... either that or dont care :))

here's a shot from saturday when gonzo
teed off on pablo cuevas, who took evasive action :D

^^ looks like he is taking a crap rather than evasive action

oh . . .

it was funny because when gonzo teed off on cuevas from across the net, the crowd cheered (maybe because the ball bounced off pablo's racquet) ....... but when pablo returned the favor, hitting fena in the back, the crowd whistled up a storm! cuevas simply couldnt win for losing in that partisan stadium, and it eventually got to him, which (not surprising).

Acasuso looks like he is giving up. Never moved for the last bh.

He seemed really frustrated after a while.
Complaining to his coach when he was on his end.

Can't imagine having the crowd against you for 55 minutes
(which was apparently all acasuso could take it).

vina del mar is definitely fena's home country crowd, as he was born and resides in Santiago.

thanks for the news about fena's ranking! :D
someday i'd like to learn how to figure it too!
he was simply unbeatable this weekend.
i, too, would like to see him bring that same power and touch to his next tournament.
could it be that clay is his best surface?

“I would like to thank Chucho to let me win the title,” said Gonzalez, who improves to a 8-2 record against the Argentine. “He is a great friend of mine and if I hadn't won the trophy would still be in good hands.”
nice to say that from gonzo !

lobster will be ready in 5 mins.
awww... it was ready just some minutes after i went to bed !
ok, i'll have it for breakfast then. :)
now i think we move to Brazil!

(sorry for this new "cereal thread hijack"... i love the boomerang spelling !!!)

unfortunately the field is less thrilling...
there is still ferrero (ranked #101 now !) and -of course- the GOAP. ;)

Hey, Love. Thanks for posting the winners of the picks. I know, I know, you were there but so was I.

of course ... in fact, you voted before i did! :D
I might have closed the poll a little too soon ... i think it was closed before the semifinals ... either way i wish more people would check the little box making the results public when they make the poll, 'cause otherwise, what fun is it?

VINA DEL MAR, Chile (AP)—Top-seeded Fernando Gonzalez of Chile on Sunday defeated fourth-seeded Jose Acasuso of Argentina 6-1, 6-3 to win the Movistar Open for the fourth time. It was the 11th career tournament title for the 29-year old Chilean defending champion. ...

“The crowd was great and I thank them for a wonderful support. I think they are always a major headache for my rivals here,” he added. “This is like a romance between me and the fans.” ...

“I thank ‘Chucho’ Acasuso for letting me win at home,” Gonzalez joked. “But seriously, he is good friend, a great player and a great human being.” ...
