Hey just seeing if anyone has tried MSV, especially MSV Focus HEX i hear its really good for spin, and feel, just seeing eveyone elses opinions

I just got some, but haven't had a chance to string it up yet. Probably won't for a while as I'm expecting some new sticks.

Yeah, I've got Focus Hex 18L strung up at 59 pounds in my Prince o3 Tour MP. Absolutely wicked spin output and control. Pretty soft as well. I've had one strung for almost 2 weeks now and it hasn't died out yet. Good stuff.

What size is that? since TW has the 17l 1.28 what's 18L? I haven't had much lcuk hitting with it alot, since it's been raining out here.

it provided great spin, but not as much as Blue Gear. It held its tension for a very long time. It also had good durability for a 1.23mm string. It was soft, but it felt very plastic. Not too much power, but average control. Once it loses its tension, it sucks.

I have tried Prince topspin, but in a friend's racquet, which was a K6.1 18x20 at 60 pounds. I didn't like it.

i like the prince topspin, but its the only string i've ever used, so i kinda want to try other strings, but ones that are similar to the prince topspin, because i don't have much time to fully adjust before tournaments.

I tried the Hex and didn't like it as much as the Focus. I didn't notice much of a spin increase, and the Focus had better feel.

does anyone know a place that sells msv hex 18L other than guts and glory cause i don't want to buy one string from some other site and another from tw. my mom would get PO'd and i don't like the syn guts they have on G&G. if only TW had the 18L...

my feedback on msv hex:

likes
- good spin
- good tension maintenance
- reasonable power for a poly
- low price
- comfortable and arm friendly

dislikes
- feel or lack thereof, impact is dull and there is no feedback
- little if any warning or wear before the string breaks

I'd say your pretty spot-on what it feels like to me, but I haven't broken the strinsg so I'm curious as to your dislikes area. What tension did you string? gauge? Hybrid? how long did you have them till they broke? Do you break strings often/alot? Sorry to bombard you with questions, but this will help me get a estimate timeline on how long they will lst me.

Do a search on the big auction site and look for Trapp Tennis. I highly recommend and I am not a rep for him. He has a good selection and is cheap and very punctual with getting my strings in the mail quickly. Almost as quick as going to the LTS (local tennis shop).

I tried the Hex at 50lbs on a Dunlop 100. Feels and play almost the same compare to Topspin cyber blue if you ask me.

What gauge did you get on the MSV?
I've played with both MSV Hex 1.10mm @54lb and Cyber Blue @52lb on my AG100.
And I love the MSV while I didn't like the CB.
They're both quite soft and nice ball pocketing to be co-poly, but with MSV I get tons of spin and more control. Feel is very similar IMO.
So far the MSV Hex 1.10 is the string I like the best on my AG100.

to answer your questions:

What tension did you string? - 55#m / 53#x

gauge? - 17g

Hybrid? - no

how long did you have them till they broke? - for me, strings broke in approx 4mos playing 5hrs/week - 2 racquets; they seen to last about the same as hurricane tour but have better tension maintenance. for my friend, they lasted about 2 months playing 10 hrs per week with 2 racquets.

Do you break strings often/alot? - i break strings every 3 mos or so; my friend breaks string every 3-4 weeks with bb alu rough 16g.

racquets used - (me) nblade 107; (friend) n6.1 16x19 (i think the head size was 95)

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping they will last me just as long as PHT or they will exceed my expectations. I don't break strings, but about every 4 months I restring, since around that time I feel the strings are mushy. I just want to hit tommorrow. rain delays, i hate them. I don't know of any indoor courts nor do I have the luxury of a vehicle at this time....needs fixing.

IMHO, Focus Hex is gonig to be hard to beat. I just got my BA in and have to wait till my strings go bad to restring, but I played some dubs today, 6 sets, man this baby was awesome. I lost once. I just felt confident with my strokes, just wacked shots and wasn't worried they would go out. 3-4 months of wating then BIg Ace is going for a testdrive.

me? Xcel Power is what I hybrid with, but that's probably not for everyone, I just really like the muted feel, I can have good touch, but not hearing the ping and the dampened effect, do it for me.
