Genesis Heptonic 18 - A poly for Gosen SM fans
I'm now over a year in to using a hybrid of Genesis Heptonic 18 poly mains with Gosen SM 17 crosses. They have the same stiffness rating, so my arm stays happy, yet having the Heptonic in the mains adds all the great attributes of poly without the downside. I hit hard but still get about the same life as an all SM 17 string job i.e. roughly 13-15 hours. I will caveat that I am a fairly flat hitter using a PK 5g with a 16 x 20 pattern.
Wish TW would carry this in reels, as it will go dead before it breaks, unlike my all SM 17 jobs. You should give it a try if you like the crispness and low cost of SM 17, but want some of that poly magic.
