MT-300/ M8 Hidden Menus (Calibration How-To)

With lots of tenacity, I managed to find my way into the hidden menus of the stringing machine. I’m not sure what all of them do and I manage to reset my pull counter and turn off the constant tension by accident. Eventually, I sorted the last one out, but I’m not sure exactly how.

To enter the hidden menu system, with the machine off, Press and Hold the “Menu” button then turn the machine on. You should see a screen with 0-0 (or some other number in the second slot). Press the menu button and cycle up to the 9s. Once you see 9-X, use their + or - to get to the sub-menu you want and press “menu”. If needed, I could do a YouTube tutorial to show how to do it all if the instructions aren’t enough. I’m also trying to acquire the manual for all of them from the place I bought it. I’ll share it, if I do.

You can also get to the calibration stage by holding the “menu” and “enter” buttons before powering the machine on.

If anyone figures out the other sub-menus, please add to this thread!

1-1 sets screen correct orientation

9-1: Constant self-check

9-2: timer for recurring pre stretch

9-3: brake test

9-4: calibration
Set your machine to 75 lbs. Then shut it off. Enter the hidden menu system and once you get to the 9s by hitting “menu” use the + or - to get to 9-4. If using a digital tester, zero it out and have it ready to go. Clamp up the calibration tool then hit the “menu” button on the machine. You’ll see the main display with some numbers at the bottom-centre. Pull tension. The machine will start between 78-80lbs. I watch the digital calibration tool until it matches (within +/-.1) and hit “Enter” on the stringing machine. Once you do this, release the string because it’ll go into another self-test. Once it’s done, pull tension again and see how close it is.

9-5: -321 to -322 shows on mine when the string clamp on the machine is out like normal. It goes to -2xx when pushed in all of the way

9-6/7/8/9: not sure. It runs a self-check and then you’re back to the regular screen

So are you happy with the MT300 build quality and operation? I have an old Wise that will probably fail soon and this is much cheaper. Did u buy the whole stringer or just the tensioner?

I originally had the drop-weight machine, but then converted it for use with the electronic head. As a hobbyist, I can’t complain. Of course, I wish some things were better made because you can see/feel the lack of quality in some parts. It does get the job done though and I’ve yet to have any concerning issues. In the end, the tension was off about .5lbs which is now corrected.

Interesting. Seems like the same or similar hidden menu as the MT-400 I have. I have what I found in a separate post. Was told my Pro’s Pro and who I bought it from that hidden menu is for authorized technicians only. Wish they could made the technical info more transparent with a factory reset option. A couple of the menu items has to do with how hard and how frequent the constant pull behaves. Also another 1 for how accurate the tension display reflects the instantaneous tension being pulled.
