Multi & Mono Mix Hybrid Compare Question/Info

I see many pros and people are using a hybrid mix of strings with the main a multi feel string and the cross a mono (poly or other) string.

Federer uses gut (multi) main, and poly(mono) cross, as do many other pros.

You may notice many pros string the cross strings 2-5 lbs looser then the mains. The tennis world is slowly starting to understand that when you string the cross strings looser then the mains ( 2-5lbs) it helps with the feel control power and spin. Since the cross strings are shorter then the main strings in most frames this helps to even out the balance of the tension.

If I have a Multi main (10-12lbs tension loss) strung at 60lbs with a mono cross (15-17 lbs tension loss) strung at 60lbs then there should be no need to change the tension since the cross will lose more tension anyway. right??

If you are a player that uses a hybrid mix of any strings can you please post it here with string, guage, tension, and frame?

Im about to string my POG with multi main & mono cross.
mains: Technifiber ProMix 17g = 1.27 (13.72 lbs loss & 199 Stiffness(lb/in.)
cross: Wilson Enduro Pro 18g = 1.21 (17.02 lbs loss & 224 Stiffness(lb/in.)

I would like to know anyones personal opinions on this mix or the reverse mix with poly main, and multi cross.

Does a mix with Multi main and mono cross give better feel control or spin, or does the reverse mix give better feel control or spin?

I play with the Prince Origional Graphite (POG) oversize (the safest racquet ever for the health of the tennis body http://racquetresearch.com )

All tension loss info comes from http://www.racquetsportsindustry.com/issues/200509/200509stringselector.html

Im sorry if this post is all messy with different thoughts.

I thought Fed used guts in the crosses. Why put gut in the mains and durable strings in the crosses? doesn't make sense.

ok so its better to have the main mono and cross multi?

does anyone use main multi and cross mono?

what are the advantages and disadvantages of both ways?

ps: off topic. how do i get my signature like all other posters to be included in my post?

If you read previous posts discussing the physics of spin production, you'll find that this is not true. Stringing crosses looser does not necessarily give you more spin. Lower tensions (overall) certainly do, and that's the distinction. Pros string crosses lower to get a more uniform stringbed, and because many use poly in the crosses which tend to be stiffer.

Also, keep in mind that the increased spin production from poly is due to increased string movement, as the teflon-coated string allows the main to do so more easily. This is why using gut in the mains and poly in the crosses is has such a higher level of spin production as compared to poly mains and gut crosses. However, stringing the mains of a gut/poly set-up too high will significantly minimize this effect. This, in my opinion, is why so many find this set-up less favorable - it's not strung to yield the results they are looking for.
