Murray: "Amazing how long a couple of days is in sport..."

Michael-drinking-michael-jackson-22698870-450-223.gif

If I was on twitter, I would reply with saying that Murray should just relax and have a bagel or a bread stick and not make innuendo and than back off when being criticized for it..

Murray should be lying low right now. If anyone has ever received a message from the tennis gods to "Shut up, and just work on your own game," 'twas he in his last match of the season.

I hope Monfils gets at least a little bit of credit now

Sure, he played great and whatever the reason Federer wasn't playing his best, that doesn't really matter. Winner played better, end of story.

That said, I still can't stand Monfils ridiculous over-the-top celebrations, etc. And both him and Tsonga are enormous underachievers. After Tsonga demolished Nadal at the AO, I fully expected him to beat Djokovic, but he didn't. Then Wimbledon. Tsonga has the touch at net and aggressiveness to assert his game in multiple Majors, but just hasn't had the consistency or work-ethic yet to do it.

But maybe he will break through at some point, Wawrinka did. Ditto for Monfils, he certainly has enough talent and athleticism to win a Major, French Open is perfect for him. Really he's a guy who should have been a top clay-court player if not for his head. And he has a strong enough serve and good enough net-skills to win Wimbledon too.

These are two guys who, if they had had their heads screwed on straight, could have really won multiple Majors and been more than just dark horses.

People say that for a lot of people. Even for Federer, that if he was a bit mentally stronger he would achieved a lot mor.

Doesn't really mean much, since we can't prove it.

Federer beat Djokovic in straight sets weeks earlier when he was playing just as well or even better. He had nearly double bageled Berdych but Fed still straight setted him. Federer would never run from Djokovic. Had he been healthy he would have placed, and likely won.

Maybe we can't prove it, but it does seem obvious to me.

Tsonga/Monfils -- you have to acknowledge the talent both of these guys have, and I couldn't have been the only one who thought before AO 2008 final that Djokovic was in trouble.

Federer -- W 2008, AO 2009, USO 2009 were all matches he either had on his racket or wobbled a bit at a key moment.

Nadal -- injuries, various Majors wasn't able to play

But of all these, I'd say Tsonga/Monfils are affected the most and have the most room for upward mobility. I think it's almost certain that if both of these guys had the discipline, professionalism and focus of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, they'd surely have won Majors.

and I'm not taking anything away from the big 3 (4 including Murray) by saying that Tsonga and Monfils are enormous underachievers. Mental strength, focus, discipline, professionalism are a part of the game just as much as talent.

It's just a shame those two guys haven't realized anything near their potential.

So objective...not.
Especially the last part. 33yo Federer against the November Djokovic would have tied the H2H score and the old fox clearly knew that...twice.

Actually Djokovic wouldve been one behind still. He only would've tied the yearly H2H. In Shanghai Djokovic could have tied the overall H2H and was in great form and yet Federer still played him.

Who won the last meeting between Djokovic and Federer, and who won most of their meetings this year? Who beat Djokovic in straight sets a week after he nearly double bageled Berdych? I can give you a hint if it is too hard.

There is a flaw here. Only one guy can be on top. So, if everybody achieved their potential, then there would still be only a few guys on top. So, it wouldn't matter.

What if 50 players achieved their potential? Whatever that means. There is even less room then for Tsonga and Monfils.

But that means, competition is stronger. It also means the entire field would be pushed more, so they would reach a higher level and nothing would change.

Amazing the far less talented Djokovic is still trailing the head to head vs now 33 year old Federer. Embarassing for a 7 slam winner. Wouldn't surprise me if Federer ends their career with the winning record, even retiring at 35 or 36. An amazing contrast to Nadal who as a teenager jumped to a quick 6-1 lead over peak godly Federer.

The final was on sunday.

Davis Cup started Friday. That's not a couple of days. A couple is two days.

Conclusion: Andy Murray is a moron.

I'm pretty sure that Djokovic played much better at the WTF than in Shanghai whatever the reason was for that. He was delivering bagels and breadsticks 24/7 in London. OTOH he nearly lost to f..king Kukushkin of all people in Shanghai FGS...

And Djokovic almost choked against Nishikori.

His form was superb, no one can deny that. However, the past matches don't always mean that much.

Playing against Federer is always tough for Novak.

but he nearly double bageled Berdych a week earlier. So it is hard to believe he wasn't still in nearly that kind of form. Berdych said it was the best tennis anyone in history has played yet Federer took that tennis down in straights just a week later.

It's a couple of days since Friday. He said a lot could change in a couple of days ie. on Saturday and Sunday. Obviously nothing changed on the Friday!

Always defending Murray. :)

Only when I see posters talking s**t about him!

Murray should worry about himself and come back strong, next year.

Thanks. I'll pass that message onto him ASAP!

Like i said in China his was good but not extraordinary. At the WTF his form was excellent. He was delivering bagels and breadsticks left, right and centre, and Federer rightly so chikened out a litlle bit, and choose the easy way out. Nothing wrong about it of course. He's human afterall...

^^ Sorry , Mainad, but this did crack me up :D

Who this, who that...
Has nothing to do with what I said.
He lost in Paris because it was obvious what was going to happen. He ran away in the WTF finals like a little girl.
You can call it a 3-2 year, clearly, he had no chance in those two and be chickened out.

Maybe you should teach Andy about the back injuries and professional sports...
The bottom line is he played Stan to the very last point without any back issues. Then, he woke up with a bad pain. I assume Ritz Carlton beds are not what they used to be? And then, he marches in the DC scene and plays 3 three setters in three days...

That was a big remark on fed.

Well, I bet he still is ****ed of because of what federer did to him.

Go eat a bagel and a breadstick

Than god for Murray. Not only has he always spoken up his mind about everything but he always does it with the most exquisite brand of British humor (which of course a lot of Fed fans do not understand as they have no sense of humor at all)

What humour? I don't see any humour in his tweet other than being bitter. He is accusing federer of faking his injury.

I don't think Federer takes it as a joke.

I don't know why. If he had said something genuinely funny I, would laugh about it as much as anyone, but he didn't. The poster called (Z)engin is the one who doesn't understand what constitutes a couple of days, not Murray.

I remain continually surprised by your evident dislike of Murray and willingness to sneer at him at every opportunity, no matter how misplaced. I must have missed this before somehow.

Is it an Indian thing, Senti? I've noticed a lot of Murray-haters on this board seem to have Indian backgrounds!

Well it's funny to see the bitter old andy again :) The one you usually see on court who swears and rages on court. He seems as bitter on twitter.

I'm not sure how you inferred from his twitter message that he's bitter?

Btw Fed's said far more bitter things in the past, not only about Murray but other players also. At the end of the day no player is perfect and that includes your favourite.

Federer lost from Raonic at Paris masters, but was not injured like at WFT, just played bad.

One supposes Federer's interrupted training between his last WTF and his first DC match complicit to some minor degree in Gael's beatdown; also, Fed's not accustomed to being withheld support from any crowd, yet another irregularity to contend with his first Davis Cup final ever.

He hasn't tweeted in ten days and exactly today when federer secures the DC title he highlights federers injury problem and is going towards the direction that he faked it.

It is pretty obvious that he is bitter. First he got served a bagel and a breadstick from fed, also get passed in the h2h and later saw him win the DC to switzerland.

To tweet something like he did shows bitterness, how can you not see it?

Well Murray seems like a pretty easy-going guy to me, certainly not the bitter type of person you think he is. Who knows, perhaps you're right and he really was venting on twitter but judging by all the interviews I've seen of him over the years I very much doubt it.

LOL is that Murray trolling Fed fanboys ;) Love it.

Or he is just angry Fed's interrupted his Mario Kart game by puling out.

:lol::roll:

Like he did last year at the WTF vs Djokovic? Or in 2012?

And Djokovic was playing even better in Shanghai than he was at the WTF? You are aware Djokovic produced historically the greatest performance in the history of the WTF in the group stages right? It's debatable whether anyone has ever played as well as he was that week.

Its hilarious how before the match all the Fed fans were predicting he would lose badly (in order to damage control in case he did), but now that the match didn't happen we have trolls running around using a result from a much faster court to now extrapolate he would have won...

Don't waste your time Spicy. NadalAgassi's been banned again, at least until he returns under yet another username.
