I thought one could say that actually winning some matches before his imminent retirement this year at Wimbledon IS a sort of a fairytale ending?

He has got no options. He neither has a big weapon nor has offensive footwork. How can he really play purely offensive game?
Take your chances when they open up and not hit back down the middle?

It's not that complicated. I don't think anyone expects him to be running around every backhand and taking huge cuts on every rally. But he's got to take at least a little more risk in neutral rallies at this stage of his career. If he wants to make his forehand a weapon, it can be a weapon. He's not some weakling out there incapable of hitting winners.

It's his defensive mindset. He feels more comfortable/secure putting balls in middle rather than going for winners. It is the way he has always played.

Huge congratulations to Andy for winning his latest comeback match in a final set decider.
This guy has the heart if a warrior and is a fantastic role model and credit to the sport.
Really hope he can get back into top 20 by end of the season. He is inspirational he really is.
With this declined movement, and no visible increased venom on grounstrokes, I'm afraid he can't end in top30, sir. Sadly....

The guy has always annoyed me - I used to enjoy watching him to see his antics when he would get pissed off. But I saw his Amazon documentary and I understand how hard it would be to have your athletic career taken from you suddenly like that. I just think it's a really bad idea to attempt to play elite tennis with a resurfaced hip. Bob Bryan played for another year or so but doubles isnt nearly as taxing as singles. He is wearing it out quicker and the next repair might be even more challenging. Youve already made 100x more money than most people will in their lifetimes - spend time with your family and move on to the next phase of your life (which can still involve tennis).
