Murray finally ready to win a slam!!

SoBad

G.O.A.T.
He is in his best form ever, as was very clear from his match against Dolgopolov. Murray’s serve, groundstrokes, and movement this week are the best he ever showed, even if Dolgopolov had an off day obviously.

This half of the draw opened up nicely first with Ferrer defeating injured Berankis and then injured Nadal. Now Murray is just a Ferrer and Djokovic away from his first slam! A brand new champion at the Australian Open! What do you think?

I think he will win. He was indeed very lucky to not have to face Berankis and that he only had to face an already exhausted Dolgopolov, otherwise there would have been big trouble.

He played average against Golgopolov, although it was nice to see him being a bit more aggressive in the tight moments.

He was probably playing at around 70% yesterday, hopefully he'll move up through the gears in the next 2 matches to become our first major winner in 75 years! :)

That’s true, because before taking on Murray, Dolgopolov had to overcome:

 AO finalist Tsonga playing beyond his 2008 level

 world top 4 Sodeling, the only player in the world who managed to reach the French Open final over the past couple of years consistently, also playing his best tennis ever

Obviously, after two grueling five-setters against the top players, Dolgopolov couldn’t handle Murray who is in his best form ever and determined more than ever before to win a slam.

I actually estimated that Murray played at around 125% against Dolgopolov who was in the 75% range himself. Still, as long as Murray can maintain a 90%+ performance against Ferrer and Djokovic, we're looking at the new champion, even though both Ferrer and Djokovic should be well-rested before their respective matches against Murray.

Interesting! He played very well against Garcia-Lopez and was brilliant against a tough opponent in Melzer. His performance against Dolgopolov wasn't as good imo.

You're thinking Djokovic will take out Federer then? That's something Murray actually said himself in a Eurosport interview, it would be good to see a new final between the two young players, but part of me would still prefer a third time lucky win over Federer for Murray's first title :)

Garcia-Lopez is very streaky and Melzer is a headcase German choker and cheater with no strokes who’s an embarrassment to ATP top 100, let alone top 10. I don’t see how Federer could challenge Djokovic at the Australian – Djokovic beat him easily last time here, and now owns Federer even at the US Open. Even though Federer has improved a lot over the past few years, the field has caught up and now a slam final is a pipe dream for the aging German. The only way Murray doesn’t win this title now is by way of ankle or wrist injury.

LOLOLOL

look at this troll go. So djokovic getting past federer in 5 sets being match point down is owning? And have you forgotten that Federer was hampered by mono during the AO 2008? 08 Federer almost took a set off of djokovic and you think that that was a beat down? Are you crazy? the dude has won 32 of his last 34 matches and is the most in form player coming into this tournament and has scraped by in two separate matches and you think he's gonna let chump djokovic take him out?

HILARIOUS

What’s with your insulting tone – this is a friendly thread about Murray’s road to his first slam title. It’s not about Djokovic and his beatdowns on Federer in slams. I don’t remember what mono, bad back, bad light, or “almost won a set” happened last time they played, I just know that Djokovic won easily in straight sets. Regardless, even if Federer squeezed by Djokovic into the final, the semi against Ferrer would be the greater challenge for the new Murray. David Ferrer is a very tough consistent player.

If Murray plays Federer in the final, he has to attack! He must make Federer know that he's there. In last year's final, he played way too defensive for my liking and let Federer dictate.

Murray is the player I've seen the least of this AO. He is suspect with the one set loss to the hair band guy.

I was talking about Melzter and Fedorer. Why are you challenging me, I didn't say anything bad about Djoko.

I personally think its now or never for Murray. He is the least fatigued out of the four players in my opinion and he surely will be after the Semis.

Great! So anyone else (besides Sentinel and Polaris) excited about Andy Murray's imminent slam title and would like to comment? Thanks in advance, I look forward to reading your posts and having a discussion with you.
