Murray showed some emotion, and made a very good joke about it. it takes some personality to be so sad, still have a sense of humour, and show your emotion in a non-awkward way. I liked it a lot. I couldn't care less for Murray's tennis, or his mom, or that he lost.. But afterwards, I finally saw a nice little kid, underneath that grin, that come ons, and those boring press conferences.
I liked it. I hope for him, he wins one in his career. But I hope it's after 7 losses in finals. just to make that 1 really sweet.

I'm definitely warming up to him that's for sure. My heart went out to him during his speech and imo it's always nice to see this side of players. I don't mind when they get emotional. It shows they care. I probably won't root for the guy though because I don't care for his game and his on court personality still does bug me.
I respect him more as a person, but it could be out of pity. 
Anyways I think his game plan needs to change if he wants to be a multi-slam champion. He is good enough to win a few maybe, but not to be a dominant player like Fed. He just wastes good opportunities to take control of a point. Everything negative Fed says about him is right.

hm, I hate it each time I see his mother.
but except that, I like him a lot more than before. he really did show some good and nicer to watch tennis. maybe the quarterfinal vs rafa was key.
plus, I haven't heard any rubish from him lately. just stay calm, show on court what you've got. leads to a better performance (proven).

I watch sports for drama. I love Roger getting upset over hawkeye, Nadal's bottles being hit by the ball and to be no. 2 for 160 weeks, Murray to not win a Slam till 8th attempt, Federer's eluding French Open title.. it's what makes sport so special.. I'd love Murray to break down 7 times, and then REALLY go nuts when he wins one. I mean, really nuts, like no-idea-what-im-gonna-do-so-ill-run-around-the-court-jumping-screaming-gliding-kneeling-falling-roaring-dancing-kind-of-nuts.

Felt bad for the guy when he choked up. Have to remember he's a young kid. It's not his fault his mom is not more subdued or the press puts so much burden on his shoulders.
If you look at his tennis alone, he's just like jmdp, a young upcoming guy with lots of potential. He should just believe he can win a major and not worry about how or when. The more he 'enjoys' playing his way, the better his results will be. Plus he has to improve that 2nd serve. No two ways about it.

Sport is sport at the end of the day, if you always want drama, go see Blood Brothers at the theatre.
Yess.. Sport is sport, and of course may the best man win.. but if i can make up a story, with a lot of drama and fairytale ending, then I like that to actually happen. I wont hurt myself if it doesn't, but I would just like that to happen. 4 lost finals to Federer, winning the 5th would be cool too.

I've gotta say, i never thought i'd ever, EVER, see the day somany heads would turn in favour of Andy Murray.
The amount of abuse he's had to subdue on this site, is probably up there with that off Hewitt's in the early 2000's .... i'm glad fans of the game can now see, he isn't that much of a wank stain and tbh actually has a pretty good sense of humor.

I can sort of understand that. Fed winning his FO after losing 4 times to nadal and witnessing his roller coaster path to winning his first FO made it all the more memorable. Still it would have saved me a few heart attacks if he hadn't done it like that.
Yeah, its just like that. Especially in retrospect, I kind of love the heartattacks. best sports Ive ever watched, that two weeks.
I thought my neighbors were going to have to call the police on me during the tiebreaker this morning which was around 6am. I was beyond loud! :twisted:

I used to like before he became # 3....disliked him up until this tournament. ESPN treated him like sh*t and never aired his matches until nadal..so it was the first murray match i saw since london...and it was a great one. The come ons don't bug me as much and i was really rooting for the guy to win..it was like 51% muzza 49% fed =/.
His game? if i get more rafa matches out of him (aka aggressive play) i'll love it but atm its okay to watch.

I don't think I'll ever be okay with the c'mons. I know fed says it as well, but nothing like murray and he has a habit of doing it quite often on ufes. It just annoys me a lot.

Views have not changed. Always liked the guy, only disliked when he played passive. But i knew he was capable of great tennis, so I liked him. Plus he's a funny guy too

Loved the show of emotion this morning from Murray. I think that if he dials up his aggressive game, I'll enjoy watching him play.

Although Fed totally deserves his 16th title, I actually felt very bad for Muzzi. He has come such a long way! He wokred harder than anyone else on the tour. His variety is a joy to watch. His tears almost made my eyes turn red. I hope he will recover emotionally and go on staying strong. Good luck min muzzi! You will get there one day.

I never disliked Murray. His speech today was emotional. It really gives people to know him more. Reminds me of Soderling's speech last year. Andy got emotional but still had his humor intact to make a joke about it. I seriously dont get why people hate him so much. Personally those come on's and other stuff really doesnt bother me.Its ok and some people just like to show emotion. If everyone was same it would be a hell lot boring. All in all he is an ok guy. I dont watch him much apart from time when he plays Federer.
As a player He just needs to improve his serve and a bit more agressive in his play.

Yes, my view of him has changed for the better. In terms of his POTENTIAL, he showed the world a lot with the level of play that he displayed earlier in the tournament, especially during the Nadal match, and also the Cilic and Isner wins.
I now firmly believe he'll eventually win a slam, though I was not as sure of that before. Having said that, in crunch time, against the top players, he'll have to be much more aggressive, in my opinion, and play looser if he is to start winning Grand Slam titles, so he's still got a lot of work to do before he challenges for the top spot and wins Grand Slams. He was waiting for Federer to make unforced errors in order to win points, and that is not going to happen in most matches versus him. It's a losing strategy versus Federer especially.
So, to summarize, great tourney, he took a big step forward, but he's not there yet. I wish him luck, as you can see how hard he's worked and how much he wants to succeed. The expectations seemed to be weighing him down a bit in this Ao, which looks to also have been true for Del Potro and Davydenko. Anyway, congratulations to him for making it to the final at least.

People shouldn't feel obligated to 'like' him now just because they feel sorry for him. Sure, he's human and cried but I still don't care for his on court personality and his game. He's still way too passive and doesn't attempt to make oppertunities of himself. He still served kinda pants this match and it was his 1st serve that kept him alive the third set. His second serve is still a big liability, he somestimes doesn't even bother kicking his second serves, rather just going for 70 mph, flat serves. I'm just surprised Fed didn'[t bother running around his serve and unloading and huge forehand

I still dislike Murray's childish behavior with all the "come on's", whining, dull stares at his mother in the crowd, but I do have some respect for him now that he has shown some emotion and that he's able to joke about it. What particularly struck me was his "apology" to he British people and the British media for "letting them down"
I mean, the guy is under a tremendous amount of pressure which directly puts him at a disadvantage. Makes you forget that tennis is just a game of two people (at least in this case)

While playing Rafa, Murray showed a surprising ability for a deadly serve, great corner groundstrokes and aggressive play at the net...I think he really elevated his game in this match. I was impressed, as I honestly didn't think he'd come out on top. He HAD to play this well to beat Nadal.
We'll see if he gets lazy again in the coming tournaments. But for now, Murray's worth watching.

Hmm, I still dislike him (but not as much; his speech showed that even though he was annoying he is human), and although I don't mind his game, I still don't really like it. I think he still needs to be put in his place a bit before he can truly blossom. Maybe something like Agassi.
