Murray reminded me of Evert on clay and could use it to beat Nadal

Call me a fool and I'm aware it's a bit far-fetched since you can't compare women's tennis with men's, more so from different eras. But I've just done some research and I've read that Murray's mother was a great admirer of Chris Evert. When Murray easily won the 2nd set 6/2 against Nadal I had a flashback and remembered how Chris used to beat Navratilova (a lefty as well, using a lot of to-spin like Nadal) on clay. The counter punching shots, using variety and pace, flat shots countering power shots...

Navratilova is not even close to the female equivalent of Nadal on clay court ability wise, nor a similar playing style. Navratilova was a serve volleyer who looked to constantly go on atleast an all court attack even on clay. Nadal is a dominant baseliner who sets up an impenetrable counterpunch from the baseline on clay, which is bolstered by potent offense almost exclusively from the baseline as well. Evert also has arguably the best female groundstrokes in history, especialy on clay, unlike Murray who has a mediocre ATP standard forehand.

I'm sorry, but no. There is no resemblance between Murray and Evert here. If anything, the resemblance would be between Nadal and Evert, since both are great clay court players, solid all around players, aggressive baseliners, tenacious, and mentally strong. Of course, I think Evert was superior to Nadal in all of those departments (even though such a comparison is to a great extent impossible to make because of the limitations the OP mentioned). Nevertheless, the comparison that should be made is Nadal and Evert, NOT Murray and Evert.

Let's see:
1. Both Right-handed
2. Both 2-fisters on BH
3. Both born in 20-th century
4. Both own homes in South FL

other than that? Not so much.

Glaring dissimilarities:

1. One got max out of his/her skills; the other, not so much.
2. One won multiple majors and was top world player; the other not yet and never will be.
3. One had ice water in the veins; the other wilts under the spotlight.

there is nothing 'mediocre' about murray's forehand. It's textbook, and when he actually attempts to hit it with pace, he can. It's the man, not the shot.

Martina's game did not resemble nadal at all. Not even close. It is a totally inaccurate comparison.
