Murray to Yonex

He's got no chance. He just accelerated his retirement by a few months.

This guy went from the ultimate players racquet to an Ezone 100 with gut mains! Basically turned into a 3.5 overnight.

I have some inside info via industry contacts: Murray's specific Ezone was forged from rock sediment that Godzilla emerged from. As a result, his racquet is supercharged. That's why there was the coverup of him buying a racquet in a store. There's real concern now among NATO that the materials of his racquet may attract King Ghidorah from outer space.

This explains why there was a need to wrap the whole racket in lead. It was done in order to attempt to block the gamma radiation emerging from the Godzillian rock.

There's real concern this won't be enough though, which is why Andy Murray may be forced into retirement soon so that his rackets can be safely buried in a salt mine under Area 51.

This is not a place of honor

This is fake news. He just switched to the ezone 100.

Read in this thread that he changed to gut mains with the move to Yonex, but he did that near the start of the season. Does anyone know if the specs are the same? If the specs are the same, all that's different is the head size, the grip and the layup. Which doesn't seem like that drastic a change to me.

Yonex formulated a special pj that refracts light in such a way that thickens the appearance of the pt57a beam and gives the hoop an isometric look. They were also able to cloak the 2 extra mains and 1 additional cross. Not secret tech, look it up.
are you sure? any idea what the pro stock code is for this rackquet? I wonder if the tennis forum gods know

I think it is a pretty drastic change because one is a tweener while the other is a purebred thin-beamed players racquet. Even if you customize the Ezone to match the weight, balance, and swing weight of Andy’s PT57A, the feel of the ball off the stringbed will still be very different. If Murray had chosen a VCore 95 instead, it wouldn’t be as surprising. But on second thought, his choosing the EZone kind of makes a lot of sense. If he was looking for easier power, you kind of can’t avoid higher stiffness and thicker beam. My guess is he will probably always prefer the feel of his Head racquet the most, but as a final hurrah, he’s willing to trade what he loved about his old racquets for easy firepower that could aid him in winning matches.

As a sidebar, I find it amusing that many here immediately blame the racquet for his poor recent performances. I mean, the guy was pretty seriously injured and hadn’t played competitive matches since Miami. He’s also old for a tour player, and when you’re older, your level drops off rather quickly when you’re not playing. Let’s see how he performs when he gets several more matches in.

He was hardly going for winners on the two matches he’s played so far. He kept hitting the ball back down the middle. Whenever he had a short ball he seemed really uncomfortable going for it (hit a lot of balls into the net or long).

No one blamed the racquet. We all only said that the change it’s apparently not helping and that his game hasn’t changed one bit. Watch his two Bordeaux matches and you’ll know.

You could be right. I'd say let's wait for him to get a few more matches under his belt.

Andy will go back to head rackets, maybe bigger head one. maybe speed rackets ?
-i think he is sending a message!
-this is def. a drastic change!, seems "to drastic" to be a performance modification/change
-furthermore, he could have chosen any of the other lines of HEAD racquets to get what he was looking for, power, spin, etc....
-something tells me he does not like HEAD brand anymore, or is it the other way around??

.....or maybe we are just all reading too much into all this, and AM just actually did what we all do and tested a number of different racquets, from different companies rather than just one that he was at the time contracted to. Found something that felt like its going to do what he needs and the adjusted it as how wanted to?

Just saying.....

I always thought if pros visited this forum, they’d get a really good laugh out of it.

Too logical for these message boards!

Crazy shift from a PT57 to an Ezone 100. Seems like they’re polar opposite racquets. Hope this is a sign of more aggressive tennis coming from Murray. Strange time too considering he more or less confirmed this is his last year on tour.
Before Liv Tennis Saudi league commitment.
