Thought this was interesting.

Murray has 14 career titles.

These are the only major winners who had more titles under their belt prior to winning their 1st major(in the last 25 years)

Lendl - 40
Gomez - 19
Agassi - 15
Muster - 28
Ivanisevic - 21

Can you imagine how much of a zero slam wonder TW would have called him if the internet had been around in those days?

That would be exactly true.

Lendl did not have many fans. He was hated by a lot more people than Murray is.

He was completely uninspiring, uncharismatic, and had the reputation of being a choker.

Why do people hate Murray? I personally find his matches very entertaining and him a fun player to watch; I quite often turn the channel with Federer plays though, so I'm torn. I think I'll tune in though :)

Exactly! I really dont understand it either! Over the last few years you can almost guarantee when watching a Roger match that at some point he will play a spectacular point that you will have never seen before. I have the same feeling with Murray. He has the technical and ball striking ability to equal Federer. They are the only two that you will see toying with their opponent, even if they are a top10 player. They have the skill and imagination to play their opponents as if they are on a piece of string when they get in the mood for it, playing the kind of points you might do for a joke in a practice session.

Of course Murray get's accused of being too defensive, but at the same time he does have the same ability as Roger

I used to dislike Lendl way back then, now i like him.
I am not suggesting anything here, btw.

Another piece of trivia: Federer won his first slam in his 17th appearance. tHis is Murrays 17th appearance.

Between 1982-1984, the media were merciless on Ivan Lendl for not winning a slam, and he was very unpopular compared to other players. His 1984 French Open win shut them up for a while, but after Mats Wilander beat him in the 1985 French Open final, the "choker" accusations started to return and the accusation that McEnroe "choked it away at the 1984 French" gathered more steam. It wasn't until Lendl won the 1985 US Open against the odds and began his dominance that the "choker" label vanished.

Personally, I couldn't stand Lendl, but he was never given the respect he deserved for the work he put in to become the player he was.

That was from 1992 when Lendl was having his worst season since the start of his career, basically.

I never watched him live, but from what I gather is that he played more like Davydenko than like a pusher.

Lost 4 slam finals before winning his first. I think that's a record, no?

It was a joke, seeing as how you have a propensity for calling Mr.Muzza a pusher. Of course Lendl wasn't a pusher.

Murray failed earlier. He claimed to be only 20 when he lost out to Fed in the US Open final in 2008, but I know from memory that he was born May 1987, which would make him 21 in August 2008. Guy should know his own age :)
