MURRAY vs. djokovic: who's the best grass player ?

LOL That's why you draw your conclusions and compare careers and stats between two players after their respective retirements, not when they are both young and in their early mid 20's! LMAO
In Murray's defense i will say he still has that Wimbledon win over Novak and leads h2h on grass in general as well as his resume outside Wimbledon trumps Novak's big time, but if you win 5 Wimbledons, then you are clearly a better grass court player, than someone who won only 2, especially if you beat the king of this surface in three Wimbledon finals...

Serbinator not only won Wimbledon 5 times, but also defended the title twice, which Murray failed to do. These are two massive arguments in Novak's favor.
 
Murray destroyed Djokovic in that poll. Go Murray.

How anyone can argue this point is beyond me. It's like someone claiming Jimmy Connors (2 Wimbledon titles) is the superior grass court player to Borg, who has 5.
 
Its sad for murray actually. On his best surface he is still behind Novak on his second best surface.

And Novak leads H2H on grass but most people agree Fed is the better grass courter. Considering their last encounter was 2013 I would argue that Novak has imroved his grass game while Murray's career has kinda just fallen apart. H2Hs can be deceptive sometimes, especially with a small sample size.

Djokovic played peak Murray on grass but Murray never played peak Djokovic on grass.

I didn't necessarily say that, I said that he was at his peak in 2012-13, which he was. Other peak years may or may not have been better.

"Most people?" You mean all people aside from the few Novak nuts on social media and tennis websites. How can anyone argue that a guy with 5 Wimbledons and 5 total grass titles is ahead of a man with 8 Wimbledons and 19 total grass titles?

It wasn't "peak grass Djokovic" though. Surely you understand where I'm coming from. Peak Murray on grass was 2012-2013 and Djokovic played him twice. Djokovic in 2015 was clearly his highest level, followed by 2011 and 2014, all years where Murray never played him.

People really underrating how much Djokovic have improved on grass since 2012-2013, especially during the Becker period. The movement, the passing game, the reaction to slices, dropshots and generally to balls that are staying low, the net play, the serve, everything is just better since Becker.

Especially the movement!! That segment of his game have astonishingly improved over the last 7-8 years. Anyone remembers the specially designed non slipping sneakers that he was using in 2013, that were ultimately forbidden for use by the organisers just before the Final. Lol
Now he just glides on that surface .:oops:

True but still Fed played well. Fed was tight early in the set as well to allow Novak to get the break. I guess Djokovic wins in 5 sets over Murray.

2011 was peak grass Djokovic. He beat the defending champion to win Wimbledon for the 1st time. Once you've done that there is no turning back. Whether or not his level was higher in 2014 or 2015 is neither here nor there. He already knew how to play and win big on grass back in those earlier years.

But whether his level was higher is the point we're trying to make. His level in those years was clearly higher than 2012 and definitely 2013. He's never played Djokovic on grass when he was at his best. That doesn't devalue Murray's wins but still we can't deny that.

Djokovic was strong in 2012 on grass though. He played very well at Oly and lost to Murray. That is some sort of something in favour of Murray.

I don't think he played bad at the Olympics in 2012 but Djokovic at his best would not have lost that match against Del Potro in straight sets.
