Here's some statistics during 2011~2015 at slams.
No. of times players who went on to win after beating
Nadal 0
Murray 3
Novak 4
Fed 4
No. Of times lost at SF or QF
Murray 12
Nadal 3
Nole 5
Fed 11
So,
Nadal, no player won the title after beating Nadal in the second wk, this happened 0 times out of 3, ie. 0%.
Murray, 25%.
Fed, 36%
Novak, 80%.
This shows:
1. If you beat Novak, then you are likely to win the title.
2. If you beat Nadal, chances are you will lose the final.
3. If you beat Murray, then you are still very unlikely to win the title (25%). A bit more likelier if you beat federer (36%).
If I were Novak, a draw with Nadal or Murray on the other side is a good draw.
Murray at no.2 is great for Novak.
Fun fact: in 2015 Nole won 3 slams without facing Murray or Nadal before the final. He lost miserably after beating both at RG. Whoever beat Murray or Nadal in 2015 before the finals didn't win the title.
