Yes you are absolutely right about this. In the absence of any other evidence I will blame the coaching of his parents.
His mom should step aside and enjoy life in her new summer cottage, but she's not his coach. His dad stays in the background. I don't he has anything to do with his tennis.

Musetti has better form right now, but Rune has the higher ceiling of the two.

Out of the young guys, my order of fav is Rune, Alcaraz, Sinner, Musetti and then everyone else.

Different style I would say.Musetti is a shot maker while Rune is more of a pusher , albeit effective when he's on.

Rune has nuclear heat on his forehand and has a better all round game, when he is on.

I like both, but I do feeling Rune has the better game, but he also is very volatile.

Rune is by far the most interesting young player.
Every time he loses a match, you have people coming out of the closet to slam him.

Fans of Musetti, Sinner, Zverev etc all use Rune as an example of how great their player is. There are literally ten times more post about Rune than Musetti, and most comments are just venomous.

Sure. I get it. It's fun to kick down. Hey, it's even natural. You pick the guy with talent who failed and you slam him and It's good fun.

The moment you deny Rune has an extremely high ceiling that's the moment I think you must be blind, deaf and dumb.
For me, its not about him being down, its about him being Danish.

Musetti forehand is very underrated. Seen it live and it’s heavy.

Ppl think it's a slow shot because he has a relaxed, languid motion

But you are right, it's heavy. That's why Djokovic doesn't like to play Musetti, even though he wins most of the matches...Lorenzo has power, spin, AND touch

People in 70s cannot be as aggressive as you are in posts, since you said you are a fan of Maradonna and watched him live if you say you are 50+ then that is sellable but 70+? Of course you could be 70+ too but normally when we read posts of @Gary Duane or @SystemicAnomaly or someone like that then they give out the calm vibes of veterans who are 60-70, no energy to fight over trivial things etc etc. By the way, Sampras Bruguera is close to 50, he is not 80 in any way, people who are 80 again don't post like he does. That having said, hard to know for sure how old anyone is or who is posting behind the ids... everything is just a guess... !!!
No one stays in the same place. You either grow over time or you stagnate and get bitter. You can already see when people are stuck in place and will get more and more unhappy by the time they hit 30.

I think a lot about what happened to some of the boomers who were so idealistic and so independent when they were young. It's as if they sold out everything they once believed in to become inflexible old codgers.:)

Show me just one. This is not true at all of older people that I know. But I don't hang out with trolls and people who want to start wars.

Just watching my daughter interact with my parents, I'm inclined to believe it. They get their feelings hurt so easily by the offhand comments she makes

When old people are insensitive and judgmental they end up very lonely because no one wants to be around them.

There are NUMEROUS studies about this subject. How can you not know about this.? By simply googling “age and empathy” you’ll find out. But ok, here’s one. Educate yourself.

There are two types of empathy that are talked about.

Emotional and Cognitive Empathy.

It seems to me that you are generalizing in a way that an expert in the field would be way more careful about.

From this study:

It is well-established through research that older individuals generally exhibit lower levels of cognitive empathy when compared to younger individuals. However, it has been observed that older adults tend to display higher levels of emotional empathy

Musetti is far more interesting. Rune is the biggest clown I’ve ever seen. I put him below Tomic, Kyrgios, Paire.

Sure, but I've talked to psychologists and psychiatrists about this. And decline in cognitive empathy (which happens with aging) is exactly what causes stupidity and general hostility online. Emotional empathy (which may – or may not – increase with age) isn't really the theme here.

Yes, and it's decline in cognitive empathy which is relevant in online behaviour – as in this forum.

None of them beat Djokovic twice – let alone beat 4 top ten players in a row in the same tournament before turning 20. Already now, he's accomplished more than Tomic or Paire ever have.

Just off my experience of watching him. Perhaps I missed his good matches but he’s embarrassed himself a few times this year.

He has, but he's #15 in the world for a reason. Just two weeks ago he was in the Cincinnatti semis (which he should have won). He's good, but his head isn't sorted out.

Seriously, the significant rise in online hostility in the past 2 decades appears to be coming primarily from younger age groups, mid-teens to mid-30s, from what I've seen here on TT (especially GPPD), YouTube (Comments) and other social media.

It could be that this is a somewhat distorted perception. Those who frequent social media and display a high level of intolerance, hatred & hostility might very well be a minority of users. However, they are the groups who tend to stand out and give us the perception (illusion?), that people are generally more intolerant / hostile in the digital age.

I'm actually Danish (and Finns are Nordic which is basically Scandinavian). And you never explained yourself.
Finnish language is Uralic not Germanic. The answer seems obvious: it's because we are jealous of your bike infrastructure.

I feel like young people being toxic assholes is a central feature in at least half the movies made during the 1980s.

There are almost an infinite number of factors that cause what you are calling general hostility online. As for stupidity, a discussion of that is a real deep dive. I really don't know what your main point is. If you are concerned with over aggression I would say that this is the most annoying thing about online communication. Without getting into fancy words, in my opinion a lot of it comes down to not listening and turning otherwise pleasant conversations into something adversarial.

It’s a vicious circle. The more time we spend online, the more we are peprived of the close human contact, which makes us more hostile. The widening wealth gap, increase in corruption and spin/lies from politicians also polarizes people.

While the crown prince of Italy with his beautiful work of art (the 1 handed backhand) is a delight to watch, the legend of Prince of Denmark is too high a scale to climb.

Having already vanquished the leader of Norway with mastery of Nordic languages ( the Jaa interpretation) he is on the way to be top of the world and win all grand slams, come what may be. Time travel no problem.

In recent times, though both fell to Djokovic in straight sets at Wimbledon, it was the sight of Danish brat..nee Prince and his legionaries that brought out the beast in Serbian legendary warrior. He was incensed to the limit. Musetti couldn't bring out that raw emotion of Djokovic.

I rest my case..

I don't feel deprived of human contact when I have the privilege of talking to people all around the world almost for free. :)

Also, removing ourselves from nature makes us downplay the importance of this connection and we become too self-interested.

I hope Rune can climb mount Himmelbjerget again soon and give us some good tennis.

Nature is the strongest healing power.

Rune needs to go and chase the wind for a while and find his magic. He’s too serious, obsessed and spoiled. His world has too few rough edges. He should go a monastery and meditate, live a while for $5 a day in India or Sudan, find a remote tribe and awaken his sleeping mind.
