My thoughts exactly.

He got married, had a kid, and got divorced all after he retired from the tour. Therefore, I'm not sure how it is relevant to tennis... or is any of our business.

I care. Now does that make me a bad person?
I care too. I enjoyed watching Muster play, he was one of my favorite players. And, I was kind of shocked to see that his family status on his website stated that he was divorced.

I can't help myself, as a fan I enjoy looking at what they wear, knowing who are they dating, what functions (and who with) they attend. Yes this has nothing to do with the sport per say. But sometimes it does have an effect on their game.

Good catch Mick.

Who Cares and how does it relate to tennis??? It's a simple question and Muster was #1 in the world for at one time. Isn't this the General Pro Player Discussion forum??
Yes, but Muster's marriage and divorce occured after he retired and had no effect on his play as a pro. Divorce is a traumatic experience for most people, but it happens all the time. If he was married to a really famous person or if this occured while he was a player (and it had a detrimental or positive effect on his game) I could definitely see why this would be discussion material. However, I don't see how it is relevant now. What do you want us to say?

So would the same hold then for Sampras? Sampras is no longer playing the tour, so should we just stop all discussions about him. That's ridiculous! And if I'm not mistaken, wasn't Muster married to a Austrailian Television star. And let me remind you, this is General Pro Player Discussion forum, NOT the current Pro Player Discussion forum. Muster is still with the ATP, and plays on the Champions tour.

An excellent point. If someone starts a thread that you are not interested in, why post on it?

So on this topic, what are we to "discuss" then? Muster got married, and he got divorced. End of story.

Look, I liked Muster also. He was a fitness animal, and he played with ferocious determination. His comeback, and his ability to win a Slam and become #1 after having his knee destroyed by a drunk driver is one of the all-time great stories in tennis. However, his getting married and divorced isn't really anything to write home about. Sadly, it's such a common event these days that you might as well have started a thread saying "Muster drove a car today" as it would seem to have the same amount of significance.

Look the way I see it is we have several trains of thought going on this thread.
First was the question is he divorced.
Second was who cares.
Third what has this got to do with tennis.
Fourth is this the right board to ask it in.
Fifth is this board only for current players.

So a good time is had by all and so far we have been respectful to each other. Yes we have two divergent positions but that's what you need to have a debate. I think the best course is to agree to disagree.

It was a question and Mick actually answered it for me as the second posting. So really, there was no need for your comments at all. The question was answered, end of topic, CLOSED!
