my almost greatest come back.

i was playing in a house league and the rule was basically simple. The player who gets 8 games wins. if it's a seven-seven tie then we get into a tiebreaker.

Anyway, i was using my blx 90 with some new wilson's champions choice strings which i am currently trying and they were strung as 55 main and 52 crosses but i was use to the 60lbs tension.

so the game was 0-6 and my opponent was extremely confident and was in full control i was shooting error left right and center and was hitting balls to the net. spraying them all over and can't return a freaking serve. during the change over i changed my racket to my k90 60lbs hybrid strings( i am not sure what they are because i bought the racket used and those strings are awesome!). I started hitting aces, opening up the court. i am hitting with more certainty, hitting winners left right and center and my opponent is cracking and after an hour the score was 7-6 and i am serving for the match 40-0.

guess what? after all that mental toughness i choked!!! we went for the tie breaker and my opponent won the tiebreak at 7-5.

it was pretty awesome though inching my way back from the point of defeat to almost certain victory. it would have been a better story if i actually won it but i guess my nerves got the better of me when winning. damn!!!

another thing i learned is that i have too much power and lowering my tension was bad bad idea for me. i'll keep my tension at 58-60 lbs and nothing less than that.

cheers!

I think that this was at least a LITTLE bit mental.
I mean, c'mon, how likely is it that a difference that small in tension can make the difference between everything going in and everything going out?

With that being said, Nice job coming back and staying together mentally.

It probably wasn't the string tension, but instead, it was the mind's perception that a change was needed and somehow these tighter strings would be better.....and so it was.

(The OP doesn't even know what type of strings are on this "winning-racquet")

Tennis is an odd sport, and the mind is its own place....
